CNN Breaking: S&P downgrades U.S. credit rating to AA+ from its top rank of AAA. (updated)
Edited on Fri Aug-05-11 07:42 PM by ProSense
Rating agency Standard & Poor's says it has downgraded the U.S. credit rating to AA+ from its top rank of AAA.

Thanks teafucklicans!

Updated to add this from Daily Kos: U.S. credit rating downgraded for first time in history

Despite that pesky $2,000,000,000,000.00 math error in their first calculations, S&P followed through with the downgrade:

(Reuters) - The United States lost its top-notch AAA credit rating from Standard & Poor's on Friday, in a dramatic reversal of fortune for the world's largest economy.

S&P cut the long-term U.S. credit rating by one notch to AA-plus on concerns about growing budget deficits. <...>

The outlook on the new U.S. credit rating is negative, S&P said in a statement, a sign that another downgrade is possible in the next 12 to 18 months.

So there ya go.

12. It sucks...but don't understand why people are blaming the nutcases
in the Tea Party. Realistically, taking all politics out, they wanted more cuts, which is
what S&P wanted too. If they had agreed to revenue, the total package would have been
more attractive to the rating agencies since it would have more of an effect....but still
not enough.
