Republicans are the biggest hypocrites on the planet & Teabaggers are a crazed lot of ignorant tools
Where were all those flaming assholes during the Bush years when there was never ever a peep from a single one of them about balancing the budget and being in the red?

Teabaggers are so fucking stupid they don't even realize that they are not only a creation of the rich & greedy Republican think tank, but they are just as much victims of the Rich & Greedy as we are. They do not have a brain in their empty heads, so they can be easily swayed into thinking that the Republican way is the only way, ignoramus tools & racists that they truly are.

Having said that, when the hell will we Democrats learn to STAND OUR GROUND no matter what the consequences?? There is ZERO on the Republican platform that is good for the welfare of this country, so to compromise with these evil fuckers even one iota on anything is to lose the battle to them almost completely. For the Republicans to get their way even by only getting a small fraction of their corrupt platform pushed through is one thing, but for them to get 50/50...or even better...in a so-called "compromise" is absolutely despicable. What good is having our Democratic ideals if we can't fight for them to the bitter end??? Yeah, like things are going to be so much better for the world just because we gave in to them to meet a deadline. Jesus H Christ!

I'd rather stand up to Republicans and fight tooth and nail for our ideals, default or no default, deadline or not. If shit happens because we stuck to our guns, then shit happens. Let the cards fall where they may. If that's what it takes to get the ball rolling again, then so be it.

5. They win because we don't stick to our guns regardless of which way the cards may fall
We worry too much about the consequences we might face for fighting tooth and nail for our ideals no matter the consequences, so we take the easy way out. Then it's no small wonder that we're perceived as being weak....and pushovers.

2. The best we can hope for is that House Dems and GOP will vote down the Senate Bill. Let the Fed
cover the Treasury for a while. The Fed bailed out the banks with $16T during QE2, the Fed can also bailout the Treasury using the same emergency powers. There will be no default, no matter what Congress does now.

3. This is what happens when you have reasonable people
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 10:16 AM by liberalmuse
trying to work out a deal with completely batshit people. Someone's got to give, and of course it's the reasonable people who end up losing ground. The fact is, conservatives are held to an entirely different standard, and their enablers (the media) allow it. For some reason, they are allowed to lie and say the room is empty when everyone sees the large elephant taking a dump. The media takes them at face value, no questions asked, and if someone has the audacity to point out the truth, they are berated. If a liberal tried to pull the same shit they'd be called out by their own people first, on top of being endlessly mocked and demonized by conservatives and the media. How many times have you heard someone in the media (other than a couple of commentators on MSNBC)mention the fact that conservatives had absolutely no problem raising the debt ceiling under Reagan and Bushes I & II and had no problem with Bush II's endless spending and hiding war costs? Not bloody often enough, that's for sure.

4. Standing ground here meant risking the default
This is brought up over and over and does not seem to sink in.

6. Personally, I'd rather risk default if it meant fighting for what's right and not giving in to evil
To me there is nothing worse than giving in to corrupt and evil for sake of risking a deadline for defaulting. If it takes defaulting for people to realize that Republicans are out for the only the richest small percentage of people in this country, then I'd rather stand up to them to the end and let the cards fall where they may. Do what's right and let nature take its course.

8. That's extreme
And pretty cold to a lot of people. Read about the results of the default.

7. I've come to the conclusion that teabaggers apparently
never had jobs whereby they paid into FICA and always got paid under the table. Otherwise, why would anyone risk cuts in their benefits? They HAVE to be suicidal or otherwise deranged in some way OR they're being heavily compensated by the Koch brothers and other corporates who give less than a shit about them. It really boggles the mind.

9. I disagee. I agree with Maureen Dowd:
"What if the people who hate government are good at it and the people who love government are bad at it?"
