Brace yourselves for a HUGE cave-in by Obama
Why do you think McConnell is trying to pull Obama back into the negotiations?

Because he KNOWS he can get more from Obama than he can from Reid. He KNOWS Obama will cave in the 9th inning when the pressure is on.

Just prepare yourself, that's all I'm saying...

And are loath to carry water for him on such bald-faced theft. So it's a big mess going nowhere now.

9. Obama will give away anything for the
big compromise and save the country
remember he is the "adult" in the room
covering his ass at all times so the independents will flock to him in droves in the next election.....right

whatever deal comes out of this mess you can bet the American people will be fucked

22. I trust just about any other Dem more than Obama.
He's a terrible negotiator, even if he means well. And I'm not convinced at this point that he means well. I don't trust him, his commitment to Democratic principles or the Democratic party. I think he cares more about himself and his precious reelection, than any of that and than the country.

51. Okay....
So I guess you could do a better job as negotiator... hmmm? You obviously like so many other Democrats on this forum don't realize how the complex political system operates. I know it is boring but take a little time to learn how it functions before making such... um... how do I put it nicely... um... OH FUCK IT!

(RANT MODE ON!!!)

Forgive me for saying this but your comment is total BS and considering how lazy the american people tend to be I am more willing to say the problem lies with the people of this great land. Very few americans did shit before the president had to come on tv and ask for help. He shouldn't have to moviate the people to get off their asses and get active in the political process every bloody time something like this happens!

But I guess very few people remember his eloquent speeches and comments during his presidential run about the fact that WE THE PEOPLE have to step up and stive to make things better. 'WE ARE THE CHANGE WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR'... do you even remember that little comment? Well DO YOU?! Do you even understand what it means? If not then I suggest you educate yourself on its meaning and while your at it perhaps you might want to tell others as well since it seems to me too many people have taken complete leave of their common sense. No matter what you say or think the president won't be the one to blame for what happens this coming Tuesday. No, it will be:

1. The people who voted more Republicans into office last year.
2. All the fucking gripping, me, myself and I lazy ass democratic voters who let this travesty happen in the first place.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST...

3. The asshole immature members of the Republican Party as well as a few Democrats as well who think this is somekind of fucking game that will have no consequences if they screw up.

There is no excuse for making comments like this, woolldog that are based on a lack understanding or sympathizing with a president that ACTUALLY FUCKING GETS IT! True, he maybe flawed and make a few mistakes every now and then but at least he cares and is making a good effort to help us. While you may have a right to your opinion I have no problem telling you that you are wrong. I think the president has done an excellent job despite all the shit he has had to deal with every single day since he entered the White House. However, all I see around this forum is people gripping and complaining and making stupid hypocritical bs comments about the president. To those people all I have to say is grow up and get out there and make difference. I hate it when so-called supporters turn their back on the one they supported simply because he isn't moving fast enough to give them what they want... How fucking sad and immature. The world doesn't work that way. You are not going to get what you want unless you make the effort to get it. Dear god I wish the public would wake up and realize this fact.

NO ONE IS FUCKING ENTTILED TO SHIT UNLESS YOU WORK HARD TO EARN IT! The elderly have done this and that is why they are known as the GREATEST GENERATION. They sacraficed and struggled hard to get everything they have. Many paid the ultimate price for the current generation to have a country to call home. This country owes them a great debt of gratitude. That is why I am so digusted with the current generation of americans. We don't do enough and yes I include myself because I have not always been as politically active as I should be, but I am now because I understand what is really at stake...

(Takes a deep breath...)

Okay, rant mode off...

THE HEART AND SOUL OF OUR GREAT NATION. The United States of American is more then just a collection of 50 states. It is a family united by hopes and dreams. The hopes of all people who dream of a better tommorrow and the dreams that inspire all americans to stive to make this a more perfect union for all. The president has inspired many americans to do great things, but inspiration is not enough if most of the people he inspired are unwilling to find the courange within themselves to stand up and speak out against the injustices that hold all of us prisoner. We are all family even those dysfunctional Republican Party members are part of our family... heh heh. In the end, like the president so eloquent stated, 'We sink together or swim together but we are all in this together. He clearly was stating the proverb of: TOGETHER WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL. Right now I see division on this forum. So many people here have lost sight of the prize and can't see the mountain top because they have gotten lost in despair. Well, despair no more because you all know what has to be done and you all know what you can do. You are not weak. You are not stupid and you are not lazy... if you chose not to be. You can make a difference. Repeat that over and over again in your head and let it sink into your soul. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE but you have to first take a stand to do so.

I know it may sound cheesy but what the hell...

THE FUTURE IS WAITING...

To not want to trash the U.S. economy, with repercussions throughout the world -- permanent repercussions, because the dollar would never be as trusted again.

That's the problem. Obama is sane.

Why don't you just drop the pretense and start working on a primary challenge? All this wailing to the walls won't get him out of office the way you want.

Or...are you waiting for impeachment to get the job done for you?

McConnell knows that Obama has more to lose politically than anyone else in this situation. He's the President. If the country defaults on his watch, he's the one who goes down in the history books and not McConnell/Boehner/Reid or anyone else in Congress. The President is always the fall guy in this kind of scenario.

But hurry before he denies he said it!

You'd think some of these people would learn that it doesn't always pay to rush to the Ledge of Outrage, but oh well.

65. I remember Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, and both Bushes
So its not like all this doubt and worry hasn't happened before. In all of those years, I found that the best way to predict what a president will do is to listen to what he says. Even the ones we are prone to thinking of as lying scheming tools - basically they did what they said they would do.

I know there are limits on what Obama can do, as it all hinges on what congress can do, but if you listen to what he says (and not what people will tell you he is "really saying between the lines"), then there is much less to worry about. We'll get something the repugs can live with - which means something less than good - because they got voted in the same as Obama, but it won't be "slashing" anything we need, or throwing grandma out on the street.

68. In the end Congress needs to vote still...
Obama can't give away things that Congress doesn't ALSO want to give away.

69. The problem is the Dems in congress
Have to choose between supporting something the president worked ou that they don't like or weakening the President and the democratic party as a whole.

71. do you ever get tired of talking like this?
You have zero awareness of what Republicans want. Apparently no idea. If they are getting all they want because they are so tough, then why are there any social programs left at all after 2001-2007?

If the Republicans are so much tougher, why don't you follow them? Then you can be satisfied that your leaders are tough and will get everything they want.

77. Of FFS
This is just like debating a right winger! They do this all the time.

Obama "caving" naturally it follows that whoever he caved to gets what they want. You are implying Obama does NOT have to compromise at all, and that he can get all you want even from the Republicans and that anything less is caving to them.

91. Why would it be a "cave" then if the Rs have to give up something too?
Then it's a settlement of differences.

92. So if Dems give up 90%,
and Repubs give up 10%, you don't consider that a cave? Let's just agree to disagree then.

86. Do you really think that Obama was OUT
of the loop at any time? That Boehner "I am taking my toys and going home" tantrum meant there were no contacts? Or that there was no WH input in the process via the Ds that were involved in talks?
