Gallup: Obama Approval Drops to New Low of 40%
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 07:09 PM by alltherage
Disapprove (52)

Approve (40)

I don't know if it's due to the debt ceiling crisis, or the wars, or the economy... perhaps all of it?

Any theories?

1. I have a theory, the republicans poll ratings are even lower, but gallup sure does want to list that
because it might give perspective to the poll

Obama approval drops to new low compared to who gallup?

4. Obama 41. Boehner 31. Reid 23.
From a TPM article on yesterday's Gallup:

Another Gallup poll showed that the President is actually faring better than others involved in the debt debate: compared with Obama's 41% approval on handling the negotiations, House Speaker John Boehner registered a 31% approval on the debt talks and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid only got 23%. But it's clear that has the partisan back and forth continues, the messy lawmaking process provides a general drag on the leaders in Washington.

In other words, every body's numbers are low.

11. Boehner and Reid don't need to win a national election.
They only need to appeal to their narrow, local base, so their national approval numbers are meaningless. Not so for Obama.

3. His approval among self-identified liberal Democrats has plunged...
...to exactly what it was June 21-26. And April 4-10. And December 13-19.

His base is clearly abandoning him.

5. Drought, record heat, constant political bickering, and a mainstream media
that treats Obama like shit while they polished Bush's turds for eight years.

During the height of the Iraq War failure Bush was called strong and resolute by 98% of the media.

6. The MSM is anti-Obama, but the R's poll lower than he does on the debt crisis.
The crisis is "resolved", things will pick up.

The important thing is that he's polling higher than Republicans.

9. Gallup 7/28: Obama Rates Higher Than Boehner, Reid on Debt Situation

Obama Rates Higher Than Boehner, Reid on Debt Situation
Half of Republicans approve of Boehner's handling of the situation
by Frank Newport

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans are more likely to approve of the way President Obama is handling the negotiations to raise the federal debt ceiling than they are to approve of the handling of the situation by Speaker of the House John Boehner or Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, although opinions about all three are more negative than positive.
