1. $20 donation to DU bet
There will be a default before there is a clean bill passed.

Some compromise bill = a draw, nobody pays
Clean bill = I pay
Default = You pay

You in?

4. I like your side better.
I agree that there will not be a clean bill until after a default, or at least not until after the technical default on aug 2. I am hoping there won't be a 'compromise' bill as every one offered up so far has been a steaming plutocratic turd.

3. Then what? We need to pass $4 trillion in deficit reduction to avoid a downgrade.
Do we just accept the downgrade? Apparently the traders are assuming its happening anyway.

5. No we don't.
And even if I accept that this alleged downgrade would occur without our complying with bankster demands, we should not surrender what remains of our sovereignty to wall street.

7. What fucking banksters are making demands on this???
The banks don't want a default either. And they definately don't want our credit rating downgraded. This isn't that kind of fight. And that "no surrender" bullshit isn't going to help anyone. If our credit rating gets downgraded, everyone is gonna feel a lot of pain. You certainly aren't taking a stand for the middle class if you find the notion of a credit rating downgrade acceptable.

9. That is their job, to look at our books and figure out the likelihood of our financing
Our obligations. If the banks tell you that you can improve your chances of getting a good rate, do you say screw it I won't be subject to your demands?

10. either they will come around or they won't
but stop with the awful 'compromises'. They aren't playing. Make the only bill 'on the table' from our side a clean bill increasing the debt limit.
