2. It's not just Obama they want to destroy
I firmly believe they also want to destroy the middle class in America. Create a country of a few, very rich, and powerful elite, with a massive underclass of poor "serfs" who have no power whatsoever.

3. I think I knew on Nov 5th 2008, but I was in denial
I didn't believe any politician could be that evil, even Republicans. During 2009 it became an undeniable truth.

When did Limbaugh start saying that he hoped Obama would fail?

5. January 16, 2009. And I was in denial as well until that week.
I could believe that they could be that evil, but it seemed crazy because it would hurt the rich as well.

And then we found out that they were hoarding their cash.

12. The rich don't care about the money
It's the power they care about. 1984 really summed it up- they'd rather own the law than have the luxuries...although they don't mind the sugar on top.

4. The 2008 financial crisis was obviously orchestrated by bush*
All the tell tale signs of a bush whackjob were present.

Demanding there be no strings attached to the bailout.
Crisis instigated almost entirely by rich NY ceos and government interference and recklessness.
Hank Paulson

To me, it seemed a scorched earth policy intended to hurt his successor. It was clear to the republics that Obama would win by February 08 (as it was to me and any other person who cared to look at the situation without bias). The financial crisis started 3 months afterward.

6. Before Obama was elected; it's not just about him.

Destroying the economy; raping the middle class and putting our money/resources in the pockets of wealthy and corps....that started with Reagan. Actually it was attempted before Roosevelt was elected, he managed to delay for about 40 years.

7. Republicans (along with some democrats) are doing it to break labor.
It's not about personalities. It's about policy. It's always about greed.

8. Before in 2007 when McCain--with the help of Phil Gramm--were telling Americans
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 10:33 AM by Liberal_Stalwart71
that we're suffering from a mental illness because we were feeling the effects of an economy on the brink of collapse.

When McCain admitted that he didn't know much about economics and the economy on one side of his mouth; and on the other, when he kept insisting that the "fundamentals of the economy are sound."

Bush did it, too!

The Republicans set the stage for Obama/The Democrats to be blamed. By not putting the wars on budget, by not funding Medicare Part D, and by raiding the social security fund...it was ALL a set up.

Bush told you and ALL of us that he was leaving the Iraq situation for the next president. Remember that?

asked if Iraq would be a problem after he leaves office in January 2009, Bush said: "The war on terror will be a problem for the next president. Presidents after me will be confronting … an enemy that would like to strike the United States again."

9. They've been trying to deliberately tank the economy for over 10 years now.
It's part of the Reagan Agenda to cut social programs by destroying the federal government's budget.

15. I totally agree
If we have no money cut the programs and never replace them. That is what they are doing at same time putting in fear to keep wars going and the money flowing for them.

Norquist's "bathtub" quote is from 2001 - and it's shorthand for GOP policies going back 20 yrs before.

"Our goal is to shrink government to the size where we can drown it in a bathtub."

11. Now people are realising this? It was rather apparent. I've always said Congress was the problem.
Now people are talking about it, as though it's valid. Nothing can get done with the Congress we have. No matter how far left or right Obama goes. Because Repubs want him to fail. And many a Dem are playing into their hands.
