And since he's apparently committed a felony, chances are he'll go to jail and won't have any choice but to resign.

Honestly I think it sort of sucks for him to get charged with dui and grand theft auto. He tried to pull it out and couldn't turn it around - it isn't like he made it very far.

It's all about mens rea, "guilty mind." If you intend to steal a car and you drive it ten feet or around the block or 100 miles, it's still the felony of auto theft.
