Hey: How can I get invited?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/linda-keenan/with-obamas-dinner-date-w_b_877232.html?ir=Politics">With Obama's "Dinner Date," Wall Street's Elite Wins... Again

Later this month, a few miles uptown from Goldman headquarters, the president will reportedly gather for a meal with Wall Street donors. Daniel has a menu with things like "Crispy Scottish Langoustines" and "A Trio of Milk-Fed Pig from Quebec", the kind of place where a single dinner can cost more than some struggling families spend on food in a whole month. While average citizens sit around their dinner table talking about unemployment, the finance folks who dine regularly at Daniel are typically far more concerned about, say, hedge fund regulation and capital gains tax rates. Wall Street -- and cynical politics -- wins again.

That sounds like some delicious fare. Anyone have an "in" at the White House and can get me an invite? $50 reward if you can.

1. Why would you go to a dinner for some one who you ...
clearly despise?

4. I don't despise Obama. I do think he's deeply misguided.
I'd like to suggest s a few things, and have a nice meal while I'm doing it.

6. YOU think OBAMA is misguided?
Perhaps if you sent him copies of all of your posts here instead. That should do the trick of who thinks who is misguided.

18. Do you realize that Obama is trying to gut Social Security?
Almost immediately after assuming the Presidency, he appointed the Deficit Commission, led by two arch-foes of Social Security. More than half of the appointed commissioners were on record as claiming that Social Security needs deep cuts to remain solvent. The reality is that unless the economy gets far worse than today, and stays that way for many years, Social Security is fully solvent as far into the future as anyone has projected - so the only reason to slash Social Security is to create a surplus to pay for hyper-low taxes on the wealthiest.

Sure enough, Obama's Commission has voted to recommend a 22% cut for the average recipient, or more than $56,000 in lifetime benefits. And they voted for further tax cuts for the wealthiest.

You think that's what a Democratic President does? Really?

Stealing from working-class retirees to hand more cash to the wealthiest? This is what you want?

Shame.

7. I reading your posts since Obama became President ...
I struggle to think of one action he's taken on which you agree and support him.

Lots of OPs about how certain actions reflect his deep seated dislike for the poor, the unemployed, his love of the rich.

But really nothing substantive on the plus side. But if a negative can be read into something he did or said, or some one in in his administration did or said. Its pretty common for you to point out his nasty intent.

I felt that way about Bush. And I would have never considered going to a dinner he held, even if someone else paid.

wonder why they aren't considered open-minded and fair. I always get a kick out of that.

20. I was one of Obama's strongest supporters before his election
Since he declared his candidacy. Search DU and see.

When he appointed the entire third-way crowd to run the country, I realized that I'd been duped, and that catastrophe would ensue for working Americans. And here we are.

3. There was a time in his life when he didn't have much
I'm sure he is aware. As long as politicians have to raise huge amounts of money for their campaigns, they have to go where that money is.
I'd rather he raise it than Romney or Bachmann.

16. How about making those Wall St. shitheads eat hamburger?
Then he could actually use more of that money for his campaign and would not have to kiss so many wealthy butts.

5. He's well aware. Do you want him to govern in a bubble?
It's as if people want him to sit there and lob verbal bombs at Wall Street and Corporations and Republican leaders and have them magically heed those words from afar. If he dares meet with them to, say, perhaps to figure out how to get something productive out of it, he's weak.

:eyes:

And in case you missed it, he dropped into a hot dog joint in Toledo. Had a chili dog right off the service line like regular folk. Sat in one of their same chairs. (Gasp!)

And that establishment is still feeling the financial uptick from that visit. Not the solution to the big problem, but this sort of thing happens every time he goes on the road. You know how many times he's done that in the past couple of months, or do you only know what the MSM is willing to talk about?

23. He should also visit a tent city
if only to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless and create some empathy for poor people. But I think the unemployed and homeless are way off his radar. They'd be an embarrassment to him because they remind people of what he hasn't accomplished. Much better photo op to dine with the wealthy and successful.

24. He also has to deal with those very same people, on a daily basis.
You know, Tip O'Neill and Ronald Reagan were fast friends.

You can have have deep-seated philosophical differences with someone and still be cordial to them, even if they do not reciprocate.

19. I love Obama. I just think he's an awful President.
And the proof of the pudding is in the tasting: we are continuing to lose jobs, and real unemployment is nearing 20%. The middle classes finances are getting worse, but the wealthy are making more than ever.

Results.

Results.

Results.

29. Did your parents teach you manners?
We need about 125,000 jobs to break even after the normal growth in the job-holding population. Even your comrade, Prosense, agrees with this (as does every economist that does not consort with LaRouche or similar crazies. 54,000 is about 70,000 less than breakeven - thus we're effectively losing jobs.

Where are you getting your real unemployment numbers from? Most consider U6 to be the broadest measure of unemployment, and that's at about 16%, down from about 17% (but about to go up again because job creation is below breakeven). Shadowstats is the only measure that I know that went above 20%, and it's still above 20%: http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/unemployment-charts

As to middle class finances - my recollection is that they're dropping, but I'm having a hard time finding a graph of median income - feel free to supply one (or similar evidence) if you have it.

32. It will cost you 5 bucks for a chance to
win the lottery. Four donors will get to attend the dinner, which does not yet have a date or a location. Of course for a little ore you can get Subway.
