2. Do the GOP not believe THEY won't be blamed for the economy by controlling the House?
And grid-locking Congress?

4. Yes, they believe that, and it's working. You see all the doom and gloom
from liberal jouralists, Democrats themselves--asserting that Palin has a chance to win, and here on DU.

Sure, the Republicans are winning; they are convincing even those on our side that it is Obama's fault and not their own. For better or for worse, the president and his party are always to blame for a faltering economy, whether it's their fault or not.

Americans are typically not that politically sophisticated. The average American knows nothing about parliamentary rules in the House or Senate procedures.

All they know is that Democrats are in charge and the economy is hurting. When people are starving, homeless, poverty-stricken, have no job--they don't care who's really at fault; they blame those currently in power. And sadly, many of them don't view the Republicans in the House as being in power. They see that we have a Democratic president and blame him. He suffers and has no coattails to lift House and Senate Democrats to victory.

3. Great, now if only the Democrats would understand that this is what's happening,
I think we'll be in good shape. But I see too many people here on DU still assuming that the economy is the president's fault. WOW!! The wingnuts, in that case, seem to be winning because that's exactly what they want you think!!

11. Yes. Once again, defeatist Democrats help hand it back to the Republicans
A party of real fighters wouldn't wring their hands about Palin. They'd be out there helping to be a megaphone for what's been accomplished by the Dems and what the R's are trying to destroy.

If DU is an indicator (and I hope it is NOT), there won't be anyone out there trying to make the distinction, since the President has been such a disappointment so far.

12. Would make sense if Obama was working hard to fix economy.
What is he doing, besides wishing?
