Dean is right where Obama wants him
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 03:16 PM by mdmc
Someone has to call it like it is.
In the end, anything that can be done through the 55+ republicans and Dulce's in the senate won't be much more then a small step in the right direction.
Obama would have never campaigned on this shitty health insurance reform bill. But this is all that we can get.

Dean has a hard job to do. He needs to keep the Kucinich purists in the fold. Not a very easy job.

Obama needs someone on the left to make Obama look more moderate. GO HOWARD DEAN!

(in other words, Obama wants Dean out there advocating for change. Dean wants Obama out there calling him out and running straight up the middle. This is all orchestrated. This is all for media consumption.

1. I agree--this is their plan, and they didn't realize how bad it would backfire.
They thought they'd get to hold Howard up as the example of a "left-bagger", but instead, his base is rallying around Dean.

They really seem to think they can impose their will onto their base, the way Rove did with the R's. Team Rahm doesn't realize that we've been jousting with Rove for 8 years, and we don't fall in line with the herd like dittoheads tend to.

19. As far as I can see Obama has done nothing to make a good bill....he
puts down Dean and says nothing about lieberman, nelson and the rest of the gang of them...yes I want to see him re-elected because this country will down slower than if a repug gets in...so here we are between a rock and a hard place...as far as I can see Obama has become a corporate whore...this is hard for me to say as I really had a love affair with him..

21. It came from the few dozen Rahmbots on here who have tried to popularize that term
You can tell it's a talking point when many people are spouting the same nonsense, using the exact same terminology. They've been trying to push that "left-bagger" meme for awhile now.

3. After seeing Dean walk it back, I wouldn't be surprised.
Then again, Dean has a history of speaking without thinking and letting his emotions get the best of him. It's why he's not in term 2 right now. (Same goes for Biden, for that matter - and I love them both, for the record.)

11. Yea but some of use can't wait for small tiny steps
Looks like for us it all means going without cancer treatments because we can't afford the medical insurance or the bills out of pocket and Obama can't deliver. He is still my prez though.

but I still support Obama as well.

Peace and low stress and thanks for the replies.

10. I would love for Obama to have a victory, to get re-elected in 2012
I think it is safe to say that he will get both of those things.

My co-pays will go up and treatment will be more expensive (too me). But that is the price we must pay..

13. Why should we have to pay the price
so the insurance companies can get bigger bonuses?

22. Quiet, you! That apparent pwning was actually a new double-reverse-ultra-mojo- jujitsu move
far too fiendishly brilliant for the likes of you to comprehend.

Remember, he's playing in literally billions of dimensions simultaneously!
