Obama not to speak at Ground Zero, great to hear
I thought his speech Sunday night was pitch perfect. It was respectful to all parties and convey the importance. I was leery of a 'rally speech' or a 'pep rally' atmosphere or a victory lap.

President Obama is mindful and respectful of that as well and is going to lay a wreath and honor first responders and victims families.

Kudos on opting to not speak and risk it seeming self-serving.

1. I agree. Good move - don't want association with Megaphone Man speech.

Has anyone actually listened to the speech Bush gave? He looked and sounded drunk, and was hanging off the shoulder of the poor NYFD Chief as he shouted painfully into the guy's ear with the bullhorn. Dry drunk. Mind blown. Unaware of the affect his actions had on others. Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7OCgMPX2mE

2. We truly need to give President Obama credit...
He has done a masterful job and not speaking at Ground Zero is a perfect decision. While I don't agree with all he has done, I want this war over, I want to see the economy improve, I want universal health care, as we all do. I just think that we need to take a moment and realized that he is doing a great deal for this country. Has he sold out to corporate interest? Haven't they all; this is the way of our politics. That's what he needs to change in this country...but I salute him in this situation...for a job well done.

Just imagine...if John McCain was in the White House...we do need to keep perspective here.

8. I wonder how many of supporters back then of the responders and families
still support him? And what their response would had been if he had shown up.
