Obama's brilliant KSM move
it's pure Obama. The GOP has been criticizing him for plans to try KSM correctly, so what better way to take that issue away from them but to do exactly what they are demanding he do. It really puts them in a spot, doesn't it? Makes it hard for them to criticize him, doesn't it?

1. Honestly, the American people don't care.
It might get some traction in sweeps week on CSI-Gitmo, but other than that, not so much.

2. They'll still criticize.
Remember Newt? "I would put in place a 'no-fly' zone at once, this evening". Then when it happened, "I wouldn't have done that."

4. Unrec: Blaming Obama for something Congress put in place?! Genius.
This board makes no sense.

6. Obama hasn't changed his mind about this issue
but his administration has been limited in their options by Congress and are are trying to do something other than letting these prisoners simply twist in the wind for another few thousand years- not that I necessarily agree with the method by which they're adjudicating them. If memory serves, didn't President Obama even issue a signing statement disagreeing with (but not refusing to enforce) this course of action by Congress? It doesn't sound at all like Obama's mind has been changed and/or that he is adopting the Republican mindset but is responding pragmatically to the reality of the situation. I don't see how that constitutes a 'betrayal' and/or a 'cave' (unless you mean caving to reality). I know the Republicans were going to be jerks about this but I'm disappointed that so many Democrats joined along with them. It's clear to me that what we need most is a better, braver Congress.
