Here's a deal...
Show me a viable Democrat, who has huge national support and is within 20-points of Obama in a head-to-head, that has at least hinted at running a primary challenge, and I'll take any primary talk seriously.

Until you've got that, though, I only see your primary chatter as nothing more than a five-year old throwing a temper tantrum because his mom won't let him eat ice-cream for breakfast.

Or at least take you as seriously as those who, with a straight face, tell me Michele Bachmann has a legitimate shot at winning the White House.

You see that's the irony in all of this. So many of you posters spend hours laughing and lampooning the political longshot that is Bachmann, and yet, in the same breath, you turn around and advocate for a guy like Dennis Kucinich or Alan Grayson.

Neither candidate, of course, has indicated they would primary Obama and Kucinich, who managed only 4% of the overall Democratic primary vote in 2004 and less than a full percent in 2008, has proven beyond a doubt to be a failure in presidential politics.

However, I'm to believe either candidate, or even a darkhorse like Russ Feingold, has what it takes to upend a popular sitting U.S. president?

I'm sorry guys, but I just can't take that talk seriously. Just like I don't take the talk about Sarah Palin or Bachmann beating Obama seriously.

It's just hopeful chatter from a group of ideologues who, whether they want to admit it or not, are a minority.

But what's even more amazing to me is that I can at least understand the logic and support behind Bachmann or Palin. They're both Republicans and Republicans do not like Obama. It's not earth shattering news.

Democrats do, though. Every poll I've seen indicates Obama is extremely popular among the base - even liberals.

So I would wager, as harsh as it sounds, those who believe Obama could actually lose in a primary are more out to lunch than people who actually think Bachmann has a shot of winning the Republican nomination. Oh yeah, it's probably improbable - but I bet she has more national support for her campaign than any liberal would if he/she decided to run against Obama in the Democratic Primary.

Ultimately, though, both campaigns and supporters of such campaigns are irrational and not rooted in any type of reality. Just hope.

4. Even though I wanted to see a challenger from the left, I never
thought there was an actual chance that anyone could beat Obama in a Primary. I would still like to see it, although it seems unlikely that it will happen.
