Five people in the Fairbanks area were arrested Thursday by state and federal law enforcement on charges connected with an alleged plot to kidnap or kill state troopers and a Fairbanks judge, according to the Alaska State Troopers.

Francis "Schaeffer" Cox, Lonnie Vernon, Karen Vernon, Coleman Barney and Michael Anderson are accused of conspiring to commit murder, kidnapping, and arson, as well as weapons misconduct, hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence, according to trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters in a written statement late Thursday.

An investigation "revealed extensive plans to kidnap or kill Alaska state troopers and a Fairbanks judge," the statement said. The plans included "extensive surveillance" on the homes of two Fairbanks troopers, the statement said.

"Investigation also revealed that extensive surveillance on troopers in the Fairbanks area had occurred, specifically on the locations of the homes for two Alaska state troopers," the statement said. "Furthermore, Cox et. al. had acquired a large cache of weapons in order to carry out attacks against their targeted victims. Some of the weapons known to be in the cache are prohibited by state or federal law."

The meddling Feds never gave this group the time to "lock and reload".

Meanwhile in California they aren't too removed from burning crosses

9. apparently they didn't like a court decision against one of them.
they belong to some group that believes that NO LAW ANYWHERE BY ANYONE applies to them. what a set of dipshits. I will tell you, our troopers rock. we only have about 386 to cover a state that stretches from New York to California and is 2.5 times larger than Texas. Don't fuck with the troopers. Not here.

2. I'm sure Peter King will convene a hearing on this right away.
Oh, wait--I don't see the word Muslim in the article, so never mind.

4. I am asking purely out of ignorance but where is the connection.
I loathe the tea baggers just as much as I loathe these para military terrorists groups.

Or did I miss something?

11. Actually, they are not the same as tea-baggers. Tea-baggers are bad enough, but this group is much
older and even more crazy. Sovereign citizen groups believe that they are only bound by English Common Law. They don't even recognize the constitution as a legal framework.

14. While that's true up to a point,
there's considerable overlap in the groups.

For pretty much the same reason a liberal group will have socialists in it. Socialists are further left than liberals, but liberals are in favor of advancing many or most of the same causes, even if some of them are to a lesser degree. Separatist and militia nuts are often quite active in conservative circles because anything that attacks the validity of a strong central government works in their favor.

18. That's not true with these two groups. One believes in the
Constitution as the ultimate law of the land, even as misguided as their interpretation might be; while the other doesn't believe that the US has a right to declare sovereignty from the British Crown.

On one hand I think they are both absolutely psychotic, but on the other it might make them take their frustrations out on each other.

6. Obama did this too, I'm sure. He battered them into wanting to kill a judge.
Thanks for reporting this. Teabaggers are dangerous. Thanks Palin for helping fan these flames. Or should I blame Obama.

7. Yeah, but one Repub state senator from Wisconsin got an e-mail death threat
That may or may not have been authentic, so that cancels out the 1000s of violent threats that rightists seem to issue on a daily basis, as well as 100s of the actual ACTS of violence rightists actually perform. Both sides are just as bad, you see.

15. Not really. Mainly because many of these extreme right groups attack right people too.
Because they are not right enough. If they don't feel the candidate lived up to the rightist extreme's he pushed during a candidate they would be marked as traitors to the cause as well.
