President Obama to Hold Meetings, Honor President Kennedy

President Barack Obama has a full slate of White House meetings Thursday, including one with a small bipartisan group of mayors. Obama, along with Vice President Joe Biden, will discuss jobs and the economy with the local leaders.

In the evening, the president will deliver remarks at the Kennedy Center in Washington on the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's inauguration as president.

1. It was not too long after that that the Kennedy brothers,

(John and Bobby) asserted that within the next half century, an African American could be elected President of the United States.

People thought that the idea was ridiculous - a pie in the sky dream that had not the foggiest chance of coming true.

Although some may find it difficult to remember, we have in fact come a long, long way as a nation, and as a people.

We are indebted for that progress to the giants of the past, upon whose shoulders we now stand.

And the torch is passed on...
