3. Pat Buchanan is a flake. The other day
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 01:26 PM by ProSense
he was agreeing that Palin's rhetoric was irresponsible and she should apoligize. Via Think Progress:

<...>

SCARBOROUGH: So Pat, is this not a time for people, like Sarah Palin, who have used violent imagery – she just has. I know some of my conservative friends and family members won’t like that reality. Or, Michele Bachmann, who said she wants Minnesotans armed and dangerous. Isn’t this an opportune time for them to apologize -– not saying that it led to anything — but just saying that they’ve been irresponsible in their rhetoric and they’re going to be more careful moving forward? <…>

I am just saying though, I mean, God, you’ve worked for two presidents. Would you not be in there if you were working for Sarah Palin right now, saying, go out and say it had nothing to do with this shooting, but you understand that it was irresponsible, and you’re going to be more careful moving forward. Wouldn’t you give her that advice if you were her aide?

PAT: Well, I certainly would. I would give everybody the advice to tone down the rhetoric and get away from military and the armed metaphors and things that a lot of us have used in campaigns, especially at a time like this. You know, I sure would Joe.

5. actually, Pat is correct.
If you think of hatred as venomous, metastasized, growing from within, overwhelming and consuming, then Sarah has, indeed, become a victim of hatred. Her own. From within.

6. Pat has had such success in this area--he should continue digging.
Just think if he had the wisdom to just stick to economic issues involving working people, he'd be a pretty good guy. But he ALWAYS shows his bigotry. It shows how undisciplined he is. Surely he would know better, but he just can't help it.

7. in a perverse way, he's right. Hatred is corrosive, it hurts the one
doing the hating, as well as the hated.

"Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true."
Martin Luther King Jr

15. I thought it was interesting that even Joe Scarborough challenged him vigorously about this
This morning when Buchanan tried to defend Palin on the ground that she has been (paraphrasing "vilified more than any public figure in recent memory," Scarborough called him on it pointing out quite fiercely that Hillary Clinton had been viciously attacked and Barack Obama has been called a racist, a fascist, a terrorist and worse.

I think it's clear that she has shown her true colors and even all but her most fervent supporters are done with her.
