"You should all be shot" --an Obama poll watcher was told as I was working in Reno back in 2008

He came to our polling place where I was counting voters. The person who was told this was one of numerous law students (mostly from Stanford and UC Berkeley) working for the Obama campaign to make sure people were able to vote --and we were told by the Obama campaign, that we don't care who they are going to vote for, we want to make sure they can exercise their right to vote. And these law students, including the harassed and threatened one (who was standing alone outside the polling place) were doing just that.

The person who told him this came inside the polling place (a school) and complained to everybody about us volunteers and election workers explained to him that we were allowed to be there. It was after that he went outside and harassed our volunteer beyond the 50 foot line and said, "you should all be shot".

I'm sure others have their stories. I have had the acquaintance of lots of Christians (though I am one myself) who believe people who believe as I do would be more useful dead. It is ironic and somewhat frightening.

We can't ignore people who threaten political violence, or any other kind of violence, for that matter.

Until you see the numerous times they say it, the right-wing pundits will point out the handful of times a Democrat has made a gun or shooting reference and say, "See we both do it."

That would not reflect the truth.
