David Gregory, moderator of Meet the Press: President Obama has restablished himself as US leader
Edited on Wed Dec-22-10 09:45 PM by Politics_Guy25
On NBC Nightly News, Brian and David both gushed over the tremendous list of accomplishments that the President has nailed in the lame-duck and over the past 2 years. David, especially, said that this time has "re-established President Obama as the nation's leader in our national consciousness." He went on to gush over how 44 did what it took to get the deal done.

The coverage was the most glowing I've seen of the President since before the election even!

Obama is back!!

Also check out CNN.com's piece by David Gergen "Obama's stunning turnaround.

Link here:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/12/22/gergen.obama.turnaround/index.html?hpt=T1

The net result is that President Obama has regained his mojo much more quickly than anyone, including his closest advisers, might have imagined. Even Bill Clinton did not bounce back from his mid-term defeat so quickly.

The AP also agrees that President Obama is once again in charge!!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40778691/ns/politics-white_house/

Obama is rebounding from his party's midterm drubbing with the kind of lame-duck victories any White House would want. And his legislative partners have not come from his usual roster of allies — they were Republicans like Senate leader Mitch McConnell on taxes and foreign policy stalwart Richard Lugar on the New START treaty, and independent Joseph Lieberman on ending the Pentagon's don't ask, don't tell policy.

Wow. Game on for 2012 baby! Game ON!!

20. horsespit, horsespit, horsespit ...
They are giddy over the tax cut deal - the holy grail to the Rs and MSM ...

It will last through the holidays, and on January 1, they will do what they do - generate negative discourse over the D president based on some truly useless issues, one after another, while CONSTANTLY bringing up the debt the tax bill ensures, then will start to focus with RAZORLIKE precision on that debt, and blame it ALL on him ...

Also, make no mistake, the meme WILL turn on taxes, these same MSM whores who are all happy with him now are the same ones who allowed the mindless drones in this country to believe that this president had raised their taxes on them to this point, WILL allow the meme that he only allowed this bill to be signed into law to, as any deranged power hungry democrat would do, to get to his second term, at which point he will rabidly raise our taxes like we have never seen ...

3. Be careful what you wish for.
When the conservative media is gushing over the President it is not likely to be a good thing for most of America. It is more likely to be because they like many of the compromises that have been made and the moves to the right.

After all, these are the same media sources that criticize every possible hint of a move to the left, and participate in making liberals largely invisible.

14. Precisely.
When the admin is doing what David Brooks and Ann Coulter wants I don't find that comforting at all.

4. Maybe tax "compromise" and elections took some pressure off.

Whatever, thanks Obama for sticking tough. But, there's much more to be done including improving health care reform.

8. Obama has always been a leader, you've just not paid attention.
Or been informed about his day to day activities to get shit done.

9. He was never unestablished....except by the beltway mediawhores,
and those who wanted all done without regard to politics,
when politics is how our system works.

So I'm not impressed by anything any of them say.
They are praising today, and will be on the attack again tomorrow....
and I believe that this President is well aware of the media assholyness......
But they are still very much in control of his bully pulpit, and he knows this....
wish some of us would know that better here as well.

12. I honestly think that the media wants President Obama re-elected
He's a good "figurehead' to them and a good representative of the USA in their eyes but they want him neutered with a GOP congress so he can't implement all the change that he wants to implement.

13. It's weird that you speak of the media as a single entity.
I see each outlet subject to the will of their corporate overlords.

I also can't picture Pres Obama neutered by a GOP House. He ate their lunch and took their milk money in the lame duck period. Have you taken a good look at the new incoming House? Yikes.LOL.

18. Funny
I never realized that he had been "un-established" as US leader. Neither the teabaggers nor the Republicans won a "mandate" in the last election and if they don't already realize that (they don't, I'm sure), they sure will very soon............and President Obama will begin to look MUCH better by comparison to all those stupid "moderates" and "independents" who bought into all of the Fox News Republican Tea Party propaganda against Obama during the past two years. :banghead:
