What will Obama's 2012 reelection bid grassroots organization look like?

Is Jamie Dimon going to be coordinating a 'GOTV For Obama'? Lloyd Blankfein and Pete Peterson planting 'Obama 2012' signs along highways? Mike Bloomfield going door-to-door? Maybe Obama can recruit some Harvard B-School students to man the phones for him on Election Night.

Let's wish Obama 'Good luck!' in his quest to find a grassroots organization for 2012.

I have given up on Obama as far as policy is concerned but looking at the evidence I am sure he would do fine with his supreme court nominations.

My plan now is to think 2016 and vote progressive in the 2016 primaries. I see 2012 (as far as policies go) as a lost cause. In other words, I will vote for Obama in 2012 and then worry about winning the battle in 2016.

The new grassroots organization will definitely be different. There will be quite a few disillusioned who will choose not to throw the same amount of effort into a re-election campaign...but, you never know. If the right republican challenger comes along, there may be new inspiration. In addition, the first term isn't over yet. A lot can happen in between now and the next presidential election.

Although some faces will disappear from the grassroots organizations, I don't believe the President will have to look very hard to find ardent supporters. He'll still have much support from African American supporters who are used to not having things change overnight. In fact, with many on the left encouraging a primary challenge, it may prove a catalyst to these supporters who still want to see him do well and gain a second term.

There will still be supporters who will be fearful of what a republican president might bring. And, there will be others who won't want to change presidents in the middle of a recession, introducing uncertainty.

There will probably be a lot less flash, but I think there will be more substance. I think the President has better days ahead. I think his first two years has proven what many of us down deep already knew, there was nothing in his resume that suggested that he would be anything more than a great guy and an outstanding motivator, organizer, and lecturer. I mean, after all, what qualifies you to be POTUS. But, I think for his second term, he'll be an even better President. I think he's already been a pretty good president.

I haven't gotten what I expected, but that's not exactly new. At least this one doesn't seem to be out to get me...yet.

In my personal life I know very few. This is not to say there is not disappointment out there because there is but it isn't as severe and earth shaking as one would think reading the posts on DU. Obama will have a huge organization and although it won't be as flashy as the first one it will be very effective and he will be re-elected.
