For Obama fans, why are you defending the tax cut deal when....
Edited on Sat Dec-11-10 07:17 PM by DaveofCali
The Payroll Tax Holiday is a Republican Idea, proposed by Trent Lott in 2001, and Grover Norquist, Mr. Drown Government in a Bathtub (the founder of the powerful Americans for Tax Reform group and a key crafter of the Bush Tax Cuts) is supporting this deal!?

"Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, tells National Review Online that a tentative tax deal between President Obama and the GOP is a much bigger victory than people see for the Republicans."

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/254638/norquist-ta...

If Grover Norquist likes this deal, I'm all against it. They want to endanger Social Security so they have the excuse to privatize it, and who do you think is just waiting to get their hands on the Social Security Trust Fund!?

This is Obama's NAFTA. If you support Obama in this, you are against Social Security's future.

Face it, Obama is a sellout and is too smart to be excused as naive. Stop being apologists and naive followers.

4. Your talking points of you and yours are all coming from the same place....
How interesting!

Calling out Democrats who support the President, is a Republican plan.

The Congressional Black Caucus also calls for a Payroll tax holiday. Are they sell outs too?

5. This, and Obama forming the Catfood commission
should tell us his intentions towards social security. Obama's going to try to cut it. I really hate saying that, but I'll be surprised if I'm wrong.

6. Another talking Point! The Catfood Commission....which in REALITY
Is a Fiscal commission THAT HAS NO POWER, beyond making suggestion to the President.
They have yet to vote anything out of committee....
and have made no suggestion that has have any traction anywhere.....
but yet they are being used as another scare tactic.

So yes, you are wrong.

9. Obama never spoke out against it
Instead of Obama condemning the Catfood Commission's statements, he ignored them. Complete and utter silence, which in diplomacy, is a tacit endorsement.

It can be reasonably viewed, that the Commission, being Obama's appointees, were in fact speaking out as his surrogates. They certainly are subordinate to the President, and if the President does not repudiate and rebuke outrageous statements made by subordinates, he in fact adopts their positions as his own. Such is the nature of a hierarchal executive branch.

So yes, Obama is a sell out or at best, a week kneed, American Neville Chamberlain.

10. Well, please tell me why the Catfood commission was

formed? And why were Simspon-Bowles, Obama's appointments to the comission, so outspoken about killing social security? They may not have any power, but they sure got a lot of press, and I didn't hear Obama disagreeing with a word of it.

7. And a huge trap.
Like the Bush-Obama Tax Cuts, ending the 'holiday' will be framed as a tax hike. This is a permanent underfunding of SS at the worst possible time.
