Obama’s base
With hindsight, it’s all so clear. All along, Obama has been serving the people who put him in the White House.
Before 2008 it didn’t take a rocket scientist to see that a Democrat might win the Presidency. The previous administration needed a Democrat candidate who would block prosecution for lying us into a war and for torture. Wall Street needed a candidate who would prevent prosecution for tanking the economy. The defense industry needed someone who would keep the wars going. Drug and health insurance companies needed someone who would protect their bottom line. And millionaires needed someone who would protect their tax exemptions.
Together, they were able to an extremely unlikely candidate – a bi-racial black man with the middle name “Hussein” – the nomination. He won. And has been serving his base ever since.

| 2. Obama is not unlike most politicians who say what they need to say to get elected, |
|
even if they know what they say has little chance of ever being reality. They are happy to allow people to believe what they want to believe even if that is not accurate. They use inference and phrases that sound good on the surface and make good campaign slogans, but few people, particularly those of their own party, will dig deep to discover if there is substance there. They allow people to deceive themselves.
There may not be all out deception by these politicians because they may sincerely believe some of their words even if there is little chance of those words or promises coming to fruition. They may have the best intentions, but in the end it may all lead to disappointment and disillusionment by those who supported them.
