Palin: ‘Obviously, We’ve Got To Stand With Our North Korean Allies’
Frightening day when somebody rumored to run for president is less competent than Glenn Beck

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/11/24/palin-north-korea/

In recent days, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has hinted in her clearest language yet that she is seriously considering a run for the presidency in 2012. Many observers have argued that Palin could never win because of her embarrassing lack of expertise, knowledge, or interest in foreign policy. Her appearance on Fox News host Glenn Beck’s radio show today, captured by Oliver Willis, suggests they may be right:

CO-HOST: How would you handle a situation like the one that just developed in North Korea? <...>

PALIN: But obviously, we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies. We’re bound to by treaty –

CO-HOST: South Korean.

PALIN: Eh, Yeah. And we’re also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes.

1. She is one person whose finger should be far, far away from
the nuclear trigger :scared:. Such an ignorant joke of a person and she has no desire to actually learn anything. She doesn't have a clue.

2. I don't know whether to be more horrified that she said this...
or that to her Palinbot minions, it will make no difference, since many don't know North from South Korea, either.

5. as dim son proved, a tenuous grasp on the facts of global politics doesn't make one unelectable
:kick:

But we should be sure to keep that audio handy for future reference. I love how, right before she claims North Korea as an ally, she says she doesn't have a lot of faith in the white house's ability to respond

9. It seems that for a certain segment of Americans, the more evidence
of Sarah Palin's ignorance, the more popular she becomes. Perhaps the uneducated masses are identifying with her.

something to the effect of, "When did Americans start believing that Bubba, down the street, is qualified to be president?"

25. What they always say is they want someone just like Them, THEY don't know difference between
North and South Korea and the history either. someone just like that can be leader and they love it.

10. Meh, on the Palinometer, this barely registers
There are so many reasons to regard Palin as dangerously unqualified for the presidency, but this is a mere slip of the tongue that could happen to just about anybody. When she gets stumped by a softball question like "what newspapers do you read?", then that actually reveals something about her character. Saying "North" when she obviously meant "South" doesn't tell us anything beyond the fact that she's fallible.

14. Slip of the tongue?
Has she refudiated her claim that she can see Russia from her house in Alaska?

22. No, and that was genuinely idiotic
My whole point is there's a difference between a really stupid comment like that* and merely saying "North" when you mean "South" (though I hadn't realised that she said it twice).

*=and yes, I'm aware that "I can see Russia from my house" were Tina Fey's words, not Palin's, but she was only parodying an actual comment of Palin's whereby she counted living close to Russia as foreign policy experience.
