President Obama implores base to get to polls, defeat 'cocky' Republicans
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/other-races/126715-obama-implores-base-to-get-to-polls-and-defeat-cocky-republicans

Staring down the prospect of big losses in both the House and Senate Tuesday, President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden made one last impassioned appeal to the party's base Sunday, warning supporters that if Democrats don't turn out in big numbers Tuesday, the progress of the last two years will be lost.

President Obama repeated a line he has employed in just about every stump speech he has given over the past month, acknowledging that Democrats face an uphill battle Tuesday. "Cleveland, there is no doubt that this is a difficult election," Obama said.

But the president accused Republicans of feeling "cocky," ahead of Election Day, highlighting recent comments from House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) who proclaimed "this is not a time for compromise."

"The Republican leader of the Senate said that his main goal over the next two years is to beat me in the next election," Obama told the crowd. "The only way to fight that kind of politics, to match the millions of dollars in negative ads that have been pouring down using these phony front groups; the only way to fight it is millions of voices that are ready to finish what we started in 2008."

1. The "base" will vote.
It's the independents that he's lost.

That mushy 10% that decides elections.

He lost them by not noticeably improving
our situation, and by insulting the
base, who would normally have spent the
last year talking UP the administration
instead of having to hang our heads and
say "We suck less than the Republicans!"

Not exactly a stirring position to be in.

Its really doesn't matter what he'll do. And by the way, there Is no such thing "independent". They are all embarrassed Republicans.

6. Wha?
Who are you, my mother-in-law?

I had high hopes for Obama.

And there ARE such things as independent voters.

I know a lot of them.

5. I don't know why anybody would be hanging their head, unless
they have a runny nose.

7. Insulting the base my aching ass ! The ultra-left needs to serve more time in office and spend less

time pissing and moaning in their pj's. The "base" got RAFTS, yes RAFTS, of damn good bills that create PROGRESS (remember that word, the root of "progressive" - just ask Maddow). Your purity standards = a party that will never, ever, ever be a viable NATIONAL party. Yes, Indies are breaking GOP in many races this year, but that is because of economic conditions, not a special new love of the GOP, and, in a number of cases, because the ones who are more motivated to vote this year are ones who lean GOP anyhow. Traditionally the majority party loses ground in midterms, especially recession midterms. Sadly, too many Indies don't take time to do their homework. They vote in the moment and don't think big picture. As if Dems and Obama were supposed to be able to fix this mess in a year and a half. As if McSame could have. As if ANYONE could have. Still, it's not over yet and MANY races remain close. So why not go GOTV, like I have, and quit bashing Obama and Dems. Enough of that nonsense.

8. Do you have any facts to back up the rhethoric? He lost independents,
according the panel on Diane Rhem's show, because they felt his administration was too hostile to business. They've fallen hook, line & sinker for the corporate narrative that Repukes are "better for business".

If you have anything in the way of proof to back up your assertions, other than "feelings", I'd be happy to take a look. If not, then one might say you're full of it. Thanks.
