"Charlie Crist asked Clinton camp to suggest Meek drop out, source says"
The plot thickens...

Charlie Crist asked Clinton camp to suggest Meek drop out, source says

Charlie Crist personally called a top adviser to Bill Clinton and asked if the former president would discuss with Kendrick Meek the possibility of dropping out of the Florida Senate race, according to a source close to Clinton.

The revelation adds a bit more detail to a story breaking tonight that's roiling the Florida race. Politico's Ben Smith reported this evening that Clinton tried to persuade Meek to drop out of the race and almost succeeded. Meek has adamantly denied that he ever considered dropping out.

According to a source close to Clinton, the former president's conversations with Meek were directly initiated by Crist. He called top Clinton lawyer Doug Band and asked him if Clinton would make the appeal directly to Meek, the source tells me.

2. Meek should have gotten out weeks ago
He not only throws good money after bad, but he's handing this seat to a mega-nut.

11. Nope, Crist should have dropped out after
he lost the nerve to run against Rubio in the primary.
Crist is running on the 3rd party ticket mucking up the
situation for Meek. Crist is a sore loser and can drop dead.

4. It is naive to think Clinton acted in this way without WH approval, IF he acted in this way at all.
He's not some loose cannon out there unaware of the wishes and political strategy of the Dem establishment. He's certainly no puppet of Crist's.

10. We don't have a runoff system, what about those disenfranchised voters?
Stop the early voting, it doesn't matter if Meek gets out. Most the voters in our apathetic society have already voted in FLA!

Bill Clinton doesn't realize any of this?

Sure he does.

13. Damn, he is a straight up slime and then goes to the media planting his fabricated story.
When he told Olbermann last night that he had been in contact with Clinton's people something smelled real bad.

Why doesn't HE drop out of the race?? He lost to the teabagger, Meek won his primary fair and square.

He is playing dems big-time and people continue to fall for his bullshit. If dems would have actually supported their candidate, Meek would have a decent chance here but they were so quick to throw Meek under the bus. This race infuriates me.

14. And CharLIE Crist is at it again
I really despise this man. I can honestly say that I hope we never hear the name CharLIE Crist again. Oh and Bill Clinton listened to the Liar of Crist real well when he came here to campaign for Meek. I am so sick of this smarmy idiot. People here even fell for his act. CharLIE Crist is out for CharLIE Crist. No-one else.
