Early Voting in Nevada--The two parties are running about even
(So were are all the republicans who are so enthused to vote!?):

The secretary of state's office has tallied all the early voting numbers, and the parties are about even. The Republicans, as they do in the urban counties, have a slight turnout edge statewide, about 2 percent. (If absentee ballots are included, the advantage switches to the Democrats by about 2,000 votes, but the turnout advantage is still slightly GOP.)

Some points:

1. The GOP had a 6 percent overall turnout advantage in Nevada four years ago. It was 3 percent in 2008. These numbers show no signs that the normal midterm turnout will be different.

2. Independents are turning out at a rate of about 10 percent -- less than the 14.5 percent for Democrats and 16.7 percent for Republicans. The state's nearly quarter-million voters not affiliated with either party remain the key to the election. They have always favored Sharron Angle, but by how much and how much will they turn out? And how much will each lose among their respective bases -- that is, how many Democrats won't vote for Harry Reid and how many Republicans will balk at Angle?

3. Keep a close eye on the second week of early voting. You would think if Republicans were enthusiastic, they would show an early spike not a late one -- as the Democrats did in '08. Two years ago, the Democrats started big and the Republicans cut the margin toward the end. Let's see what happens this year. If the GOP has a 4 or 5 percent lead by Friday, that could be ominous. But if not....

1. Hope this bodes well for Harry. I also hope that the rally with President Obama
will give him a boost.

2. Some of those Republicans may be voting the "None" option out of disgust. nt

5. and one reason I'm voting is because of Angle
I keep asking myself, why in the hell did I come back to Nevada? This once was the state of Alan Bible, who bent over backwards for the people in this state, and the governor Mike O'Callaghan. Now look what they vote for? Gibbons, in my book was bad enough, and now they want Angle? How low can they go--the stupid it hurts!!!!

She wants to privatize the shite out of everything, apparently wants no regulatory systems in place (wow, thank god her hubby doesn't work for the government anymore), wants to give those for-profit leeches everything, VA, social security, education--it's a wall street wet dream. And, her views on her own sex are absolutely appalling, in my book. She thinks we all should be enamored with her scary belief system-and I wonder if she still believes that "black" is an evil color.

There better be a hell of a lot of people coming out to vote against the nightmare that will visit us if she is elected. Besides being downright embarrassing. Y'all won't be talking about Texas, Arizona, or Virginia as much as Nevada.

6. Uh...they're not tallying the votes.
They're counting the number of registered people who have voted by their party.

So it's on how many Democrats and Republicans are voting. Not who they're voting for.

It's an indicator of enthusiasm - even though a Republican theoretically could be voting for the Democrat and the Democrat could be doing the same.
