Nevada GOP Leader Bill Raggio Endorses Harry Reid, Rips Sharron Angle

A powerful state Republican has thrown his support behind Democrat Harry Reid in the race for Senate in Nevada, while also leveling some harsh words at GOP candidate Sharron Angle.

State Minority Leader Bill Raggio released a statement Thursday endorsing Reid and describing Angle as an "ineffective" four-term assemblywoman with an "inability or unwillingness" to work with others.
Raggio said Reid was the only candidate who asked for his endorsement.

Angle, a Tea Party favorite, was defeated by Raggio in the rough-and-tumble GOP primary in 2008. In his statement, the state senator from Reno made it clear he hasn't forgotten the bad blood between them two years ago.

"After losing to me in a primary, during which she ran a very negative campaign and distorted my record, referred to me as a liar and a RINO, I never heard one word from her, or a concession, or an offer of support," Raggio said. "Instead, she lent aid and comfort to an effort to recall me as State Senator."

Angle has not commented on Raggio's endorsement of her opponent.

Reid pointed out that it was the first time Raggio has endorsed a Democrat in a major

1. Two possible interpretations...
1. Reid is too conservative to be the Senate Majority Leader.
2. A growing number of Nevada Republicans have grown weary of Angle's antics.

Either way, I'm glad Bill Raggio spoke up in favor of Reid.

5. Perhaps a "Devil You Know" Sort of Thing
I think there are still a number of Republican office holders and party officials out who know that the whole Tea Party fandango is going to end in disaster for the GOP...

3. I think their situation is similar to what we have in Florida ...

Folks would rather not vote for Crist, but the alternative is a Teabagger nutcase. We obviously know that Angle fits that description. There comes a point when the lack of sanity is great enough to overwhelm party lines.

4. Further...
Angle is a loonie who supports curbing the very things NV economy runs on: Rampant sexuality, alcohol and gambling.

One doesn't have to be in any way shape or form a liberal to support not destroying one's state economy.
