If Tea Baggers love God then why don't they believe this from the bible?
— Matthew 19.24
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God"

The Bible goes out the window during a 'crisis' of this proportion.

3. For the same reason Christian liberals ignore/explain away the parts of the Bible they don't like.
Visit the R/T forum, you will see the same phenomenon there.

10. I am not a defender of any religion as a person who is agnostic, but I like to point out how Jesus
backed the impoverished and the weakest among us.

12. I agree with your claim. According to the story, Jesus healed lepers (for free) and
defended a prostitute (for free) who was about to be stoned.

26. He backed those who had no power over their lives.
And taught that true faith was more importaint than paying (literally) lip service to belief.

This is why I am always suprised to find progressives hating the things that Jesus taught, because it is so in line with what we believe. Note- I didn't say X-ians, as that is exactly what this statement is all about.

4. Because you don't understand the meaning of that parable.
Edited on Wed Sep-22-10 01:46 PM by RandomThoughts
A guy walks up and says 'what can he do to get into the kingdom of heaven.

He wanted to know what he could do, Jesus told him, give everything you have to the poor.

The guy knowing he was not perfect, said that was impossible he could not do that, so how could he be saved.

Jesus then said, nothing is impossible with God.

That verse is about God's grace and nobody able to 'do' to live up to perfection, or all falling short, so if you make minimum wage, or billions, and want to help people God will find away within who you are.

It also speaks about helping the poor as being important, but that is the focal point, not that the rich can not be saved. Save not condemn.

That is how I think on it. Although I could be wrong, it seems to be more then that one verse.

5. Matthew is my favorite book when it comes to pointing out false prophets
And we do need to keep calling them false prophets!

Here's a good list of things these self-righteous cretins conveniently forget:

Matthew 25:40

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

2 Kings 4:10 Let's make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Proverbs 14:31 He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Proverbs 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 10:42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 25:34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 25:39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 25:45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

And doesn't make sense anyway since cryptic language isn't clearly black/white. Teabaggers have very literal cement brains.

13. Question answered.
Rich people just buy REALLY BIG needles, big enough for a camel to go through the eye. Problem solved. See how easy things are when you are rich? Then, once they get to heaven, they gain control of all the pertinent committees and start eliminating those pesky poor people who have nothing to offer. And, you can bet your ass there are no unionized angles flying around! Everyone has billions in their accounts, live in palatial mansions, and sit around passing judgement on those confined to earth.

Hey, it's rich people's heaven, what'd you expect? Fairness?

21. They also never bring up the Jubilee
As I recall, Jesus commanded that believers should celebrate the Jubilee on numerous occasions, which includes forgiving of all debts. That would just be hell on the bankers and industrialists writing the checks for their "grassroots" groups.

23. I've heard it explained
The the "eye of a needle" was the name of a geographic location somewhere
in the middle east that travelers had to pass through to get to a town, the
name of which escapes me. It was a tight fit, but camels and everyone else
could pass through it.
There you go, parable explained. You may keep your riches. Whew.
And please don't forget to tithe !
