Crist donors not flocking to Rubio

Despite party anger over Gov. Charlie Crist's decision to leave the GOP and launch an independent run for the U.S. Senate, few early Crist donors have crossed over and contributed to Republican candidate Marco Rubio, records show.

After Crist's announcement April 29 that he would run for the Senate as an independent, many prominent loyal Republicans expressed outrage.

Twenty supporters signed a letter demanding he return Republicans money, which Crist declined to do. Yet by June 30, only five of Crist's contributors who gave more than $200 responded with like contributions to Rubio, for a total of $6,340.
