Norton: 'Concerns' about Buck
LITTLETON, Colo. — Former Colorado Lt. Gov. Jane Norton said Tuesday she isn't sure whether Ken Buck can win the general election if he defeats her in tonight's down-to-the-wire Republican Senate primary.

"I have great concerns about that. His issues with spending and ethics, but, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," she said in an interview with POLITICO, pledging to support the Weld County district attorney if he's the GOP nominee.

Standing on a busy intersection in Littleton with supporters, waving to drivers during a windy morning commute, Norton said she felt her campaign peaked at the right time in the closing weeks, but stopped short of predicting victory outright.

"We feel optimistic. We aren't taking anything for granted but we feel like the momentum is with us," she said.
Despite being the pick of national Republicans and wielding a financial advantage, Norton squandered an early polling lead as Buck ginned up support among tea party members and the conservative base last spring. But over the last month, Norton has climbed back into a dead heat, seizing on a series of verbal missteps by Buck and positioning herself as a steely conservative who can take a punch.
