Is Grassley interminably STUPID?
What an embarrassment he is! I'm amazed that Elena Kagan kept such a straight face when she answered his looney questions. It was so clear he was trying to trap her into some crazy statement of sentiment for a "furrin" country's laws...does he thinks she's an idiot?

I realize he was playing to the lowest common denominator of citizen with his moronic questions, but he really made himself out to be a laughing stock...

4. That's simply because if one were to be a "good" representative, they would be
a Democratic or a Green Party or Socialist Party member.

Being a Republican these days is the definition of being stupid. My opinion.

Gone are the days of the great and ably intelligent Republican Senators!

3. "plays"? He IS dumb. Nobody could be that embarrassing on national TV
unless they were totally clueless, which I think he is...

13. I guess in a kinda strange way...sort of playing to the stupid crowd...
it just amazes me that he doesn't seem to have any idea how ridiculous he looked making those statements...he didn't come across as wily and crafty but just hollow brained...

14. Even the most feeble minded souls know better than the complete denial of reality
crazy talk the Republicans go on with all the time.

These guys travel, have access to excellent data, meet lots of people, and usually have educations. None of that means they have any significant horsepower, practical experience, common sense, intellectual curiosity, and certainly not deep understanding, a long range perspective, or decent intentions.

Those things do however mean their is almost no way they are quite as brain dead as they play on TV.
These folks aren't out working all day with no head or interest in the subject matters or busy with kids, just getting snippets of information from dubious sources and/or crazy emails and Hate Talk radio day in and day out.

These people actually do this for a job. Just by osmosis they can't be a block of stupid as they pretend.

5. He's smarter than Scott Brown
who yesterday started his remarks by extending condolences to Senator Byrd and his family. (within the first minute. ) He kind of stumbled through his prepared speech (which does not have the error.) http://www.necn.com/06/28/10/Scott-Brown-introduces-Supreme-Court-nom/landing.html?blockID=262261&feedID=4215

That should be "accommodating Sen. Kerry and me." Guess he skipped grammar class to pose for some photos.

8. Oh yes, I nearly drove off the road
When he appeared to be asking Kagan if the second amendment is an "inherent "right - one not "given" by a government. In other words --- GOD has given us all the right to own guns and other weapon.

He tried to reference the Declaration of Independence and mangled it.

What an idiot.

9. I don't know whether Kagen will be a great justice
but she's incredibly smart and very, very funny. Lindsay Graham was asking her about what she was doing Christmas day. Kagen, thinking he's asking about the underpants bomber, says she can't really say much because issues about it will almost certainly come before the court.

No, Graham says. I mean where were you on Christmas day?

Oh. Well in that case, Kagen says, I was just like probably every Jew. In a Chinese restaurant.

The whole place cracked up.

Recall this bit from an energy bill debate in 2005:

"You know what? What makes our economy grow is energy. And Americans are used to going to the gas tank (sic), and when they put that hose in their, uh, tank, and when I do it, I wanna get gas out of it.

And when I turn the light switch on, I want the lights to go on, and I don't want somebody to tell me I gotta change my way of living to satisfy them. Because this is America, and this is something we've worked our way into, and the American people are entitled to it, and if we're going improve (sic) our standard of living, you have to consume more energy."

Terminally stupid- and an utter embarrassment to Iowans.

19. Good question. Grassley himself pretty much IS the
lowest common denominator, IMO.

Dumber than a barnyard animal.

It would be a splendid thing if Iowa voters showed Grassley the door this fall.

24. I'm afraid so, to answer your question.
As a matter of fact, the Repubes are looking and sounding more and more like they flunked first grade all at the same time.

It is an embarrassment of abysmal proportions to hear them mouthe the ignorant questions and move along their obstructionist pre -set rails.
Undoubtedly they soon will crash their own effin' dumb selves.
