Steve King (R - IA) Goes Birther on the floor of the House
Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 09:24 PM by WeDidIt

Steve King: 'There's one in this country we haven't seen'

A strange moment on the floor of the House, captured (off of a TV) on YouTube by a believer in Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories who thinks that Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) is proclaiming his solidarity with that movement. In a wide-ranging speech critical of Obama policies, King described the share of the national debt inherited by children as soon as they were born.

"Little baby with ink on their foot," said King, "stamped right there on the birth certificate -- there's one in this country we haven't seen -- but, the footprint on those we have seen owe Uncle Sam $44,000."

9. Any chance that enough Republicans are embarrassed by him that he might get primaried?
Even if no Democrat would have a chance to win the seat, maybe we could hope for a slightly less objectionable Republican.

15. I can dream, can't I?
Seriously, I think there are some Lincoln Chafee types, people who've been Republicans for years but who, unlike Chafee, can't yet bring themselves to leave their longtime party.

I mean, millions of people who voted for McCain. I don't think we can assume that ALL of them were sociopaths, psychopaths, and racists.... can we?

16. They are choosing to forget
They want to blame all of the country's problems on the Democrats, even when all evidence points in their own direction.

Typical behavior, unfortunately.

5. This is the consequence of gerrymandering
You make someone's district so right wing and so safe for an extremist loon who never has to worry about losing because the opposition doesn't even field real candidates.

18. No it isn't
Iowa is the only state that doesn't gerrymander. They draw the districts based on geography alone. His district is most of western Iowa which boarders, and resembles, places like South Dakota, Nebraska and rural Missouri. He isn't that much different from what those places have produced, with the exception of SD which did give us a Democrat.

6. Those "little footprint" birth certificates are not official ones.
Those are the ones given as a gift to parents from the hospital in which the baby was born. They are not kept by the states -- official birth certificates are the ones you get when you apply for your own as an adult.

8. Yeah thats what I thought too. For christ sake I'm 53 and I have never seen my original
birth certificate because it has been court sealed since 1956, I get the paper that shows my adoptive fathers name in the place of my bio fathers name and it works just fine, at least so far no state agency has ever questioned my citizenship.

17. Exactly!
The official birth certificates do not have footprints. I would feel sorry for Iowa, but they are obviously happy with the guy's politics.

7. So folks lets do this
each of us email this POS and ask him to try to explain to us how damn much of that debt was left by the Bush administration with the help of the republicans cowards still in congress.

Now be sure before you try to email him, you, get his district in Iowa. Then you can use your name and telephone number but you have to make sure you have a city and the state where his district is..Also most of them have the 4 digit extension for the zip code so when you check out his district put the whole thing down so you can put in on the address box in the email. I made the mistake of not doing that and had to go back and then back again. So now I am ready. Don't be surprised if you start getting emails weekly or monthly telling you what he plans to do and all that jazz. I don't delete them...cause I want to know what the republicans are doing.

Outrageous comments. This is all part of trying to make President Obama seem like "the other" btw and is a coordinated GOP/Rovian ploy.
