(Photo) President Obama adjusting Dick Van Dyke's tie

Caption: President Barack Obama adjusts Dick Van Dyke's tie during the Ford's Theatre reception in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House, Sunday, June 6, 2010. (Official White House photo by Pete Souza)

For some reason, I smile every time I see Dick Van Dyke and this photo was just too sweet not to share!

:hi: Just a little light-hearted diversion...

21. In your estimation for sure! Anyway, apparently they both were 6-1
sadly, dick seems to have lost about 6" over the years.

7. How neat!
Obama never stops working...he's the Energizer bunny.

It would be interesting to know how many dinners/receptions they've had since in office. Bush rarely had any.

20. We need more reminders
about how damm good Team Obama is as the First Family. I think that's a big part of what rankles the RW so much about da Prez.....

12. I now have three degrees of separation from the Prez!
Randy Whipple was my classmate; he was in My Mother the Car with Jerry Van Dyke; Dick is Jerry’s brother…

13. I went to high school with his two sons
Birmingham HS in the San Fernando Valley was originally an old army hospital. By the time I started in 1965, it was falling apart. Dick Van Dyke brought a rock concert to BHS to raise funds for a new football stadium.

The Doors and the Jefferson Airplane were the main attraction, along with the Peanut Butter Conspiracy and the Merry Go Round. The tickets were, believe it or not, $3.00 per person. I still got my ticket stub, after all these years.

May 20, 1967...a night I'll never forget.

24. Hey Bev. How're you doing? Dick Van Dyke is still
raising money for local high schools with yearly shows at the Civic Arts Plaza. I'm sure the tickets are more than $3.00 though. As a side note, I saw the Merry Go Round in Anaheim around the same time. Doors and Jefferson Airplane? Great double bill. The Byrds played for a benefit at my high school in 65. Hard to imagine that caliber of group playing at a high school today!

26. That's because we stuck in this gloom world of blogs
where nothing good never happen. When you see pictures of the president out there, you see how much people love him and connect with him. You see a lot of smiles. There's a whole world out there and they don't spend all day just whining about how bad things are, because there's a lot of good too. Many people here and on some other Left blogs, are just in constant state of bitterness, it got to a point where they just don't know otherwise.
