If Fixing the BP Mess Were SO Easy, Why Wouldn't the GOP do it?
Granted, I realize it's ultimately the President's responsibility and he has control of the purse strings but he is easily facing the roughest news cycle of his term thus far. It's a no brainer for the GOP to exploit this incident with the mid-terms four months away.

And yet, with few "safety of the TV studio" exceptions ... silence. They're still whining about Sestak.

It's not illegal for a member of Congress to fly to a district not his own and complain about the President, Senator Barack Obama did so after Katrina. Seriously, he got on a plane and went. Piece of cake.

If all one needed to do was fly down to the gulf, bluster and show emotion, then what's stopping McConnell and Boehner, as party leaders, from hopping on a plane and going down there. All they'd need to say "we will not rest our fight in Congress until Obama helps the people of the Gulf!" Doesn't matter that they may not have the numbers in Congress to pass any legislation, all you have to do is make grand, symbolic gestures, right?

If the US has the infrastructure to do this better than anyone, why not seek the best military minds ... I'd imagine there are more than a couple retired army and navy experts who are supportive of the GOP. Why not enlist their help? Why not have them announce THEIR plans on how to stop the leak sooner than August?

Maybe, if they searched hard enough, they might be able to find a couple of former Presidents, or at least one former southern state Governor with Presidential aspirations who've actually WORKED for the oil industry and who can get on camera and say, "the only thing Obama knows about the ocean is how to ride a boogie board! Let some REAL men with REAL knowledge of how to save this country show you how to do this!"

Where's Pawlenty? Where's Romney? Sarah Plain is perfectly adept at getting on a plane. Why not fly down to what no one would argue is "Real America" and stomp around in the rubber boots she no doubt owns and let the press eat it up? ... it would make for a GREAT book chapter.

But no ... we're seeing none of that.

Perhaps the answer is not as simple as some make it seem?

9/5/05 - Former President Bill Clinton, right, carries a young girl as he and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., visit with Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Houston.

.... seriously, it could be his chance to REDEEM himself! IF there is something that the Obama admin IS NOT DOING ... that someone ELSE can do better ... he and Jeb could march their happy butts down there and show them what to do! Jeb is pretty popular in Florida and, sure and and Crist have had their differences lately, but what batter cause to rally around than using the oil spill to bring down Obama?

IF they ... or anyone ... were able to.

4. My guess is that the whole issue is so toxic that no Repub wants his name associated with it.
People might expect them to do something and they know that's not possible.

5. The GOP might as well keep quiet......
why speak when the media and the Left are doing such a good job Blaming Obama
for everything!

They can just continue to do the racist thing, and let everyone else handle
attacking the President on the real issues. A pile-on is all that will be seen anyways,
and the GOP knows it.
