Poll question: Who would you want as President right now?
McCain is included because he was the 2008 nominee for them.
Bush is included because he was President and if term limit was not in effect he would probably be the 2008 nominee.

32. LOL, is that what ignored said? Its like they heard that a "push poll" was a bad thing and they
threw it out there without any understanding of what it meant, because they didnt like the poll.

7. There's a John Kerry forum
I don't recall seeing you there. It's in the Democrats groups.

But JK has backed Obama 150%, almost better than anyone. If anything else should have been done, he would certainly have beelined to the White House to let them know.

37. Hi there
:hi:

My favorite too, but this is a weird thread. The reality is that Obama as President has an agenda very like what Kerry ran on. I watched a 50 minute Q & A that Kerry had with the media yesterday. He gave a passionate defense of the remarkable accomplishments that the Obama administration has had in spite of the incredible obstructionism of the Republicans. The defense was whole hearted and convincing.

Though there will always be a part of me that will wish that he had been given a fairer shot at the Presidency in 2004 than the media and powerful interests gave him, at this point he is working incredibly hard for the things he has fought for all his life. He will never be President, but in ways small and large he will have made the country better through all his activism - likely more than many who did become President.

Obama is well on the way to being the President who created the most positive change since at least LBJ, and if he is able to help Kerry pass a comprehensive climate change bill that will transform our economy, as it helps limit the impact of climate change as it leads to cleaner energy, since FDR. I saw Kerry speak in Hyannis on the eve of the 2008 election, unlike some would be in his position, he was clearly 100% behind Obama without a trace of envy.

I just prefer Kerry because I've known him longer and did a lot of GOTV for him. I suspect that John is Barack's go-to mentor in most things. Just because I prefer Kerry doesn't mean I don't believe Obama has the same qualities necessary for leadership, I'm very relieved that he is President and will work hard to get him re-elected. Dana ; )

I prefer Kerry because there is no one in politics I trust or respect more. On foreign policy, where there have been some disagreements, I far prefer Kerry.

41. every president is unique and unique to his era.
I always hear conservatives wax about Reagan. and the dems was over JFK and FDR.
and everyone wishing these people were president now.
the funny thing is that none of them could be the same as they were in their time because the whole climate is different now.
the internet, blogs, 24-7 cable that thrives on conflict and shallowness. You have professionals whose whole thing is to keep the faux outrage going on both sides day after day. You have conservative media and zero fairness doctrine.
In today's climate I seriously doubt we would have the new deal or that FDR would be legendary and the best prez.

Leto would be the best we need a long range thinker and maybe a predator to cull the stupid and corrupt herd.

3,500 years of The Golden Path a few thousand years early is just what the doctor ordered. If we aren't going to actually have democracy and freedom then a true ruler is where it's at, it beats making 1984 look like a fairy tale for however long such a thing can sustain it's self.
