far bigger than polls to "DU" are FB groups and pages, and liberal groups are all but
nonexistent. Seriously, look at Arizona. Thousand - thousand "Stand with Arizona".

Crickets stand against it.

Yeah it's they are all stupid groups, but so is ABC's meaningless so non scientific internet polls as well as CNN and all of the others.

It's just very odd to me - when I see something like "stand with arizona" I look for the intelligent progressive version of the page/group and there might be something with 20 people, 100 people, maybe some have a few thousand, but wingnut groups (in many areas of interest) have very large fan bases.

Is that not odd to you?

4. I have one word for you - "astroturf"
If you looked into the genesis of these groups, my guess is you would find they were all manufactured by lobbying firms or other groups aligned with Wall Street type republicans in their ongoing (and thus far successful) effort to manipulate the dumshit demographic.

7. yes, but the are fanned, or joined or whatever. I get the astroturfing, but
the discrepancy is still odd to me.

9. It actually makes perfect sense.
Many conservative republicans have a strong psychological need to have their beliefs validated. This is because many of them have some amount of cognitive dissonance concerning their beliefs in that they either know or strongly suspect that such beliefs are morally wrong. The reinforcement of their beliefs from the agreement of others resolves, or at least eases, that cognitive dissonance and validates the morally wrong belief.

This phenomenon also explains the commercial success of conservative talk radio and Fox News.

15. Facebook has nothing to do with this other than
it being the platform. FB's privacy issues and are documented, probably even on this forum. My point is about groups/pages and the amount of people who support them.

I joined FB last year because of a big high school reunion and for the most part, find the whole thing idiotic. I've joined two groups (no-kill shelters) and offer up very little personal info. That explains why one raging librul hasn't joined; can't speak for the others...
