Sen. DeMint: Obama manipulating, 'thinks Americans are stupid'
By Eric Zimmermann - 04/28/10 02:21 PM ET

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) had some harsh words for President Barack Obama on Wednesday, accusing him of using the media to manipulate the American people.

Obama "thinks Americans are stupid," DeMint said.

From his interview with Radio America:

The president is the one who put the kibosh on working together, and now he's just trying to use the mainstream media to confuse the American people. The fact is I think he thinks Americans are stupid, and he's going to play this out until he gets a headline in every paper that Republicans are obstructionist. The fact is, he's the one who's obstructing real bipartisanship.

DeMint claims that senators were close to a deal until the White House intervened.

"I thought we were moving toward a good bill until Chris Dodd went to the White House," DeMint said.

You got them mixed up again.

Oh look, now you've drooled all over this important legislation. Well, let me get a wet-nap and I'll mop you up.

14. Always accuse the other side of what you yourself are doing.
It worked so well for talk radio all these years that Republican leaders are doing it too.

16. How could Obama put the "kibosh" on something that never happened to begin with? Rethugs never
worked with the President. Okay, once. During the stimulus. A measly 3. And one became a Dem afterward.

Pathetic man.

21. Obama once eluded in an interview on Comedy Central he thought someone in the Senate was stupid
Obama might or might not have been joking, but if he wasn't, DeMint stands a 1 in 99 chance of being that person.

23. I'm pretty sure Barack was talking about more than one of his colleagues
If I recall, his statement was that with "some" of them, you think about asking them "how did you get here?"

24. There are disturbing whispers about DeMint's aspirations to the White House.
I hope he never gets close.

This recent quote sounds pretty much like the GOP's strategy of lying, yes, but specifically, lying in a way that blames Obama for the exact behavior the GOP is guilty of.

Recommended.
