AP-GfK Poll: Americans shifting to US cars
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100421/ap_on_bi_ge/us_ap_poll_cars

An Associated Press-GfK Poll shows that 38 percent favor U.S. vehicles while 33 percent prefer Asian brands, a significant improvement for U.S. automakers compared to four years ago.

"Really, the American car industry has opened its eyes," said Jose Nunez, 24, a customer at Planet Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Miami on Wednesday. "And it's really giving the people what they want, what they need. I think after all we've been through, definitely the three big companies are responding to it."

1. Jose Nunez, 24, a customer at Planet Dodge Chrysler Jeep
Another thing that Obama and the dems don't get enough credit for. Chrysler and GM would probably be gone if the pukes were running things.

2. Never left them - ever.

Always enjoyed their quality, too.

Jeep and a Chevy in my garage.

That new Camaro is a home run. Outta the park, baby!

And that upcoming Volt makes it all even better.

3. Toyota taking a dump probalby helped some
But the quality gap has been closing for a long time. It just takes a long time for people to notice.

6. I think it has too.. the 80's were the low point and the American car
industry has been fighting its way back ever since. What happened to us 30 years ago, just happened to Toyota. They got careless thinking the customer would always be there

9. The late seventies and eighties, the big three made some bad
cars. I should know, I bought a few of 'em. Never left them, though.

the quaility has long been pretty even, but this fuck up finally woke people up to the truth about Toyota quality.

11. Never had one in the last 20 years...
Is an american maker selling a turbo/rally style small, fast (>130 mph), sedan/hatchback with high MPG (minimum of 30 mpg)? I can't seem to find any, they seem to have either performance, or MPG, but not both.
