We have done this so many times, that I have lost count: To tell you the truth, I have no idea what this one was about anymore

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x8629730

Is it possible to wait and hear what the President has to say first?

31. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with .... the tyranny of evil men."
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 11:59 AM by Clio the Leo
'The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.'

Now THAT is a TASTY burger! ;)

15. of course it does - but that does not mean we cannot discuss it prior to getting the facts
we shall be more knowlegeable tomorrow - but we can still discuss it today

kind of like hurricanes - not a bad idea to discuss before they hit - afterward we can regroup and see what we learned.

..... then I wouldn't read the threads where people told me not to complain about the war (until 9pm tonight.)

(See, you know you had that one coming. :silly: )

9. I don't like what I hear about this decision
but am waiting to hear what he has to say. I want to hear how long until we leave and how will this be paid for.
I want to stop hearing about health care and other domestic programs having to meet deficit goals when the defense budget can run free. If a tax won't pass then it has to come out of somewhere else in the Pentagon budget.

13. Why do you want us to keep silent about the war escalation?

Do you really think President Obama will announce the withdrawl of U.S. troops from Afghanistan .... is that what we are suppose to wait for?

14. What I am most interested in, and must wait for, is Obama's specific "exit ramps" .
I read that he has repeatedly asked his advisors about them. I also want to hear a "if this, then that" scenario (I know it's impossible to pose every single one but a few might help explain his overall rationale).

And yes, Peacetrain, you are asking the same question I have silently asked myself every time I confront another thread here at DU on Obama's decision re Afghanistan. Let's get the factual information and do some analysis...

My mouth to god's ear...

I don't know how many times the President's speech for tonight has been written, and rewritten, on here this week. Too many!!

I'm with you, I'll wait and see what he says.

24. You don't get it. The President has briefed everyone BUT us peasants.
We are the LAST on his mind as the M$M with guidance from sweaty guys in the bowels of the Pentagon is frantically attempting to "manufacture consent."

The President is not allowing "a national discussion" - he and his ruling elites have made THEIR decision, the rest of us have to OBEY. :grr:

How dare he coordinate troop movements with his officers in a decision that will affect life and death of troops before he makes a public address.

Yours is not the only thread here saying that we should all hear him out. Okay. But what can he say that will allow us to morally justify the escalation of this quagmire?
