New Mexico: Pearce Passes $1 Million Mark
Former Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.) raised $277,000 in the first quarter, pushing his campaign's total receipts past $1 million.

Pearce, who is running to regain his old seat in New Mexico's 2nd district, will report $708,000 cash on hand at the end of March, his campaign disclosed Wednesday.

Pearce had a huge fundraising push when he first joined the race, pulling in more than $500,000 in the third quarter, before settling in and raising at a steady quarter million dollar clip the most recent two quarters.

He's in for an expensive battle against freshman Rep. Harry Teague (D-N.M.), also a strong fundraiser who won the open seat when Pearce decided to run for Senate in 2008. Teague raised more than $1 million in 2009 and ended the year with $886,000 in cash.
