No one I have seen here critizes EVERYTHING Obama does but plenty try to justify EVERYTHING!!!
If there is someone here who complains about EVERYTHING Obama does then I say tombstone them. I have no problem at all with kicking them off this whole website! They are freepers and kick their asses off.

But I honestly think that ANYTHING Obama did would be defended by a big set group of posters here.

Patriot Act - Obama hands are tied. Justified!

Abortion - Obama is doing everything he can, he cannot make a stronger stand. Justified.

The War - He is doing what he said hew would do, no matter if it is wrong. Justified!

Gays - Obama is moving as fast as he can. Justified!

Health Care - Obama is correct in not pushing harder. Something is better than nothing. Justified!

Big Ed, Michael Moore, Kucinich - All three are evil because they don't like the health care plan! This is unbelievable to me!

On and On and On!

Any complaint about Obama is immediately unrecommended to <0. Even though some of them are 100% correct. People just think that Obama cannot make any mistakes that can be attacked here. They find some need to justify everything Obama does. No matter if it was wrong under Bush it is some how justified under Obama.

If you think this place is much different than people justifying EVERYTHING Bush did then you are kidding yourself. No way 90% of the stuff Bush did can be justified and no way 30% of the stuff Obama does can be justified. Why is 30% that bad? Most people here like 70% of what Obama does and will support him in 2012. How is that horrible??

I thought 100% Blind Support was for Religion and GOP supporters. Maybe Not!

3. There is no such thing as a perfect prez
We have had our share of doozies, idiots, humdrums and damn fine presidents. Obama is a damn fine president but he is not perfect, no one is. As long as this country and its people have faults, so will our president have faults. An honest critique of Obama, supported by facts, should never be met with derision but bullshit will be.

7. It's the abdication of civic responsibility
I think what bothers me most is the cognitive dissonance between two common memes floating around GDP of late. First, there's the constant pleading that we must wait for the President's speech before making any decision. As if the Afghanistan situation just arrived, and it will take us time to evaluate it for ourselves. However, the same people urging us to withhold judgment are making declarations of support for escalation before the President's speech. There is a very clear assertion that the President's strategy is immaterial. As long as the President says it's a good idea, it's a good idea, end of story.

This is a dangerous predisposition to begin with, but it is a morally empty one when we're discussing matters of war and death. When you declare that any idea the President has will be acceptable to you, you've surrendered civic judgment and democratic responsibility to a single figure. It's a totalitarian impulse that should horrify anyone, but it should especially horrify Democrats.

While the impulse to sublimate all conscience to one man's judgment has been a common theme in presidential matters since January, it is on this issue, where we're asking for the sacrifice of lives, that this attitude begins glowing with its own political malevolence.

Supporting a policy because you've weighed the merits is a perfectly defensible activity.

Declaring that you will support a war based on whether or not one man has chosen to wage it is an inexcusable impulse and a dangerous one.

8. What utter nonsense. Obviously you read DU with limited comprehension
There are plenty of people who have nothing good to say about Obama, the Democrats or for that matter, the AFL-CIO. They post under the same names as here on other websites where they call the entire Democratic side of the political system here "criminal." They're open about not saying anything positive.

I can't think of any Obama supporter who has never said anything negative about the Democrats or the Obama administration.

Your bias is causing you to see illusions.

There are a lot of people here whose names I recognize right off the bat as being critical to President Obama on every issue. I rarely, if ever have seen these same people give him credit for the things he's doing right.

29. It's the politics of the Party
Every party is going to have it's rank and file followers who will find no fault in their President. It wasn't just a Freeper or Republican thing. Democrats do it too. I'm actually reserving judgement of Obama. I think it's entirely too early to judge him harshly on anything. He's definitely made some mistakes early on, let's just hope he learns from them.

32. That's unenfoceable really
And if you are saying we HAVE to find something to criticize, it's just as valid to say we HAVE to find something Bush did that we liked.

We can disagree with something and say nothing about it, too, deciding we'd rather in general support the President than go looking for something to disagree about.

I'm not necessarily even supporting the President's decisions sometimes so much as arguing that it goes to far to find ONE goddamned thing they don't agree with and then start making outrageous statements that Obama is no different that Bush or that they won't vote for him again over one issue (if they ever did vote for him in the first place).

And it's a good point that if people voted for him, they knew what he thought regarding Afghanistan. If he still thinks it with access to the National Security Council and the classified information available to the Presidency, then there would be reason to be uncomfortable with his doing any differently than what he thinks after that (and it is not cheerleading hero worship to trust his judgment to that extent - I believe he's a smart guy and no warmonger; he just thinks this war has to go on - I was against it when it started but don't know what I would want done with it now).

33. Bullshit. There are people on BOTH ends of the spectrum, but more of the former.
You would have to be blind not to see it, or a part of of the former group. There are those on this board that criticize everything Obama does, even when they claim to "generally" support him. It's a small group, just like those few who "justify everything" but they are certainly there doing their best to whip up the hatred. Legitimate criticisms are not what I'm talking about -- although you talk about the number, not the quality, of the complaints, so there actually are people who post nothing but legitimate criticisms. The constant attackers are very loud and post a lot.

However, there are people who, when I see their usernames, I automatically know the post is going to be negative or some kind of complaint about Obama. Those are the people I am talking about.

Here's what some people don't understand about posting rant after rant about Obama: Obama will never, ever see your rant/complaint. Ever. So people go around talking about how they are speaking "truth to power" to "holding Obama's feet to the fire." No. You are posting on an internet message board which Obama, I can almost guarantee you, does not read - if he's even heard about it. So people who do nothing but rant need to understand this, especially if they really think they're "doing something" by copy and pasting some article from their favorite blog into the "Message" text box here at DU and hitting "Post message."

DU is my break from the "Real World." It's my escape from the bullshit in the media and the right-wingers in real life. Right in the rules it says: please keep in mind that most of our members come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values.

37. Great post and totally needed
I have never been the one to complain about everything Obama has done. I was recently called out by someone claiming that I hate everything he does and I posted about 15 things I love that he has done. But I never see any of the cheerleaders on here say one negative thing about some of Obama's policy decisions. I challenged one of them to name one thing he has done that you disagree with and they never responded. It said everything I needed to know right there.
