LuntzFail! McConnell: Republicans will run on 'repeal and replace'
McConnell: Republicans will run on 'repeal and replace'
Posted: March 23rd, 2010 08:07 PM ET

From CNN Associate Producer Martina Stewart

Washington (CNN) – Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, said Tuesday that the GOP will make Democrats' recently passed health care bill the centerpiece of its midterm election strategy.

"Repeal and replace will be the slogan for the fall," McConnell said in an interview on John King, USA.

The leading Republican told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King there were some reforms in the health care bill that could have been agreed to on a bipartisan basis. But McConnell charged that the bill's cuts to the Medicare program, new taxes and the possibility of higher individual insurance premiums were all things that Republicans would like to see changed.

Explaining the "repeal and replace" slogan, McConnell added, "And we're going to remind the American people of that in the future and hopefully we'll be able to repeal the most egregious parts of this and replace them with things we could have done on a bipartisan basis much earlier this year."

2. That's good for a "Holy Crap!"...
They signed the death warrant for the GOP...:D

After all the garbage about "bipartisanship", the thing they do is what we all knew they were doing for years...do nothing but divide. If this is their "masthead", I'm taking out stock in shovels because there a lot of GOP political graves about to be dug...:D

people will see that the lies they've spread about the plan is bullshit.

11. They were all about "REPEAL THA BEEEEL"...
He/They think "Replace" will sound softer and more productive? Nice try. No walking their extremism back now. And, you know what? Methinks the teabaggers will settle for nothing less than wholesale trashing of this "guvment takeover". Hey Repugs! What now?

9. I think "luntzfail" deserves to be an actual word.
luntzfail -- n. an attempt to phrase or frame an issue or topic in a form beneficial to one's own point-of-view which results in the opposite effect. When the young man boasted to the girl that he was a teabagger, it was an epic luntzfail.

10. They weren't going to do ANYTHING on a bipartisan basis. Their whole strategy was to
not allow Obama to get any victories, even if that means not supporting the very amendments they introduce!

15. 'repeal and replace' is a ridiculous slogan. It sounds like
Sarah Palin's cosmetic surgery plan.

Then again, both the GOP's strategy and Palin's are all about using boobs to get what you want.

18. Watched a little O'Liely tonight about repealing the bill...
both Barbie and Skipper attorneys both agreed that there's not a legal chance that SCOTUS will rule it unconstitutional.

20. You'll never get close, Mitch--the President is not
going to sign a repeal of his own bill, and if you think you're going to get 67 in the Senate for an overturn you're dreaming.

22. Right! When they had all three branches of govt.
They did such great work for the people. Now we're supposed to believe that they'll destroy what we did, and replace it with something better.

I think I see more tax cuts for billionaires in their future. That'll work!

26. Not ok by me either.
But what they want to do and what they can do are two different things. Every state in the union mandates one purchase auto insurance (sans Wisconsin and New Hampshire) why isn't that considered unconstitutional?

27. Personally I think it's a great idea. Let them. We win. They lose.
Obama is going to be out on the campaign trail selling this. And Biden will be out telling everyone how fucking great this is...
Mitchy has no chance against those two.
