USA Today: Opinions turn favorable on health care plan
And here we go:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2010-03-23-health-poll-favorable_N.htm

WASHINGTON — Americans by 9 percentage points have a favorable view of the health care overhaul that President Obama signed into law Tuesday, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a notable turnaround from surveys before the vote that showed a plurality against it.

6. They seem to like the pre-vote/signing polls better
I can't for the life of me figure out why.

3. Score! Actually, this poll doesn't suggest much change in opinion
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 01:07 PM by DrToast
The previous polls were asking people if they were for his plan, but many were against it because they wanted more.

This poll asked people if it's a good thing, which means all those people who were against it because it didn't go far enough at the very least think this bill is a good thing.

7. You never hear
anyone talk about the numbers being worse because people think it didn't go far enough! One of these polls need to ask that question.

9. Actually, several polls ask exactly that
And the people who are in favor of it plus those who thought it didn't go far enough were higher than those opposed to the plan because it went too far.

11. Really?

18. Sure, here's one...
http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/03/22/rel5a.pdf (.pdf)

If you add those who opposed the plan because it wasn't liberal enough to those who favored the plan, it was 52-43.

How come people weren't talking about this? Because the media can't handle complicated thoughts.

22. It's so depressing
I caught this on Olbermann last night (I think). It really is amazing how bad the media is at reporting. I guess they figured it works for Rasmussen (with their "Strongly Approve" and "Strongly Disapprove," which makes numbers look much worse). It's just insane how they compare only top line answers and refuse to analyze ALL the data as a whole.

Then again, nothing should shock me anymore with the media.

12. True enough
But it's nice that the reporting of the polls finally proves what you just said. Many here have been saying all along that even as the media pushes the narrative that a majority of Americans were against the bill, they failed over and over to point out that unfavorable poll numbers included the unsatisfied from BOTH sides of the aisle.

It's nice to finally see the reporting of polls finally bear that theory out.

19. Absolutely...now that it's passed the poll question becomes "Do you want to repeal it?"
And that question favors us by quite a bit.

4. "Winner" just seems favorable to people.
Of course with the coverage of it, people might know more about it than before.

8. Some very important items in this poll....especially look at the negative reactions to the Rethugs
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 01:12 PM by Jennicut
First: "The largest single group, 48%, calls the bill "a good first step" that should be followed by more action on health care." Exactly what many of us have been arguing for months.
Second: "No one gets overwhelmingly positive ratings on the issue, but Obama fares the best: 46% say his work has been excellent or good; 31% call it poor. Congressional Democrats get an even split: 32% call their efforts good or excellent; 33% poor."
Third: "The standing of congressional Republicans is more negative. While 26% rate their work on health care as good or excellent, a larger group, 34%, say it has been poor."

Rethugs are not looking good from this at all. 26/34. No where near the positive ratings that Obama got, slightly more negative then the Dems.

10. You have to figure that some of the Dems' negativity...
...comes from people who think they took too long or failed to go far enough.

16. Yup. I think overtime, the Dems and Obama will go up but the numbers for the Rethugs
will stay bad. Stupid obstructionists.

14. ... and just as Bob Shrum said, once the people better understand...
what's actually in the bill, the numbers will go up higher. The President has got to create some kind of toll free number or something so that people can ask how this reform will personally affect them.

20. pundit dipshits kept saying "people don't know what's in the bill"
AND WHY WOULD THAT BE you hysterical dumbasses? Could it be because you've wasted a freakin' YEAR breathlessly prophesying how Obama's going to fail (will he recover? has he lost his touch? isn't he supposed to be the Great Communicator behind Ronald Reagan? *gasp*), or how the Democrats are doomed doomed DOOMED because people HATE this bill and are ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY, just look at how angry those grassroot teabaggers are!!! How will he recover?!

*takes a breath*

Assholes!

And now that these same jackasses are actually talking about what's in the damn bill, people are saying, Oh. I see.

Criminy!
