5. the political org. La Raza is against it.
because it does not go far enough, and abuses the rights of illegal immigrants who can afford health insurance and wish to buy it.

9. given 12-14 million people w/out status, I can fully understand La Raza.
This bill terrorizes families for no good reason.

But, on the other hand, it does start making some good changes.

15. I don't agree - if La Raza wants to build immigration reform they
should not expect it to happen in a health care bill but they should stand in solidarity if the bill helps legal Hispanics - which it does.

I hope that the next big issue is immigration reform, it will bring needed relief to hard working legal abiding aliens and divide the Republicans - a valuable twofer.

16. Oh, please don't get me wrong. I agree with you.
And I also see the need for access to health care for all immigrants, legal and those without status. Simply from a humanitarian view.

18. I understand I just think that La Raza is taking the short view

A failure on the HCR would doom immigration reform, a victory on HCR makes it more likely.

I want to see it passed for a lot of humanitarian reasons but I also think that it would split the Republicans.

His problem was only the immigration language in the bill and therefore, I think he was always movable.

10. Reminds me of primary season where superdelegates
Slowly trickled out until it was clear Obama would win, and then that trickle turned into an unstoppable flood.

13. Gracias, Luis! We'll be there for immigration reform for you.
We marched with you from Union Park to Grant Park a few years back, and I remember your speech (Then Senator Obama was there, too, and Reps. Schakowsky and Emanuel as well). We were 500,000 strong then. This time, we'll get it.
