ABC calls BS on Stupak's Abortion Funding Claim (heh!)
Bottom line, Stupak has been implying pretty much SAYING that the bill would force ALL Americans to contribute $1 monthly to help pay for federally funded abortions. ERRRRRR! Wrong!!

In reality, IF you receive a federal subsidy to purchase a program from the exchange and IF YOU select a plan that covers abortion you'll have to pay the $1.

THANK YOU ABC for doing this because I was having a hard time understanding it. Stupak made claims the other night on MSNBC citing pages 38-44 of the Senate bill, I read those pages and found NOTHING remotely like what he was describing.

In short Mr. Stupak, STOP YOUR BS!!!!

1. It is great that they are correcting it
Side note to all those upset that abortion is not covered - if they are right that the cost of the abortion coverage is $1 a month, please, please give up attacking it for how abortion is handled! (I had thought it could be $2 or $3 - and at that level thought the anger unjustified.)

2. Stupak is using Republican talking points techniques
He should probably leave the Party if he's going to play this game. We're not stupid, Bart.

3. Stupak and Rachel
Edited on Fri Mar-05-10 11:22 AM by 90-percent
Rachel absolutely eviscerated this guy Thursday night.

Her message was basically; "Yo, Bart, if you're gonna pull this stupid abortion shit on us, then I as a journalist am going to show America what you are all about, dude!"

I hope Bart enjoys being shown to all America as the douche-nozzle that he really is!

4. Try calling their office and you will get the phone hung up. Call back and you
will get your call transferred to threat line. That happened to me and I was shocked since I never made any threat. So I am sure am in some data base.

8. He's full of it. I heard him cite different page numbers in a different interview. It was
page 1000-something. Maybe 1038-1044? No matter what, he keeps spreading lies about how HIS amendment is the same as the Hyde amendment, and that the Nelson amendment now in the Senate bill forces everyone to pay for abortions. :eyes:
