Quote of the Day: Rep. Louise Slaughter
Newsweek

"I even had one constituent—you will not believe this, and I know you won't, but it's true—her sister died. This poor woman had no dentures—she wore her dead sister's teeth, which of course were uncomfortable, did not fit. Did you ever believe that in America that that's where we would be? This is the last chance as far as I'm concerned, particularly on the export business. We have fallen behind, we're no longer the biggest manufacturer in the world, we've lost our technological edge. We have an opportunity to do that, but a major part of the success of that is getting this health care passed."

--Rep. Louise Slaughter of New York, speaking at this afternoon's health-care summit.

1. Slaughter's statement - along with Pelosi's and the president's - was terrific. Dems really shined.

2. Chris Matthews was almost mocking this woman's story last night,
which is one of the reasons I turned him off.

5. Matthews is unwatchable . . .
In the dictionary his photo is next to "sycophant" and "spittle."

3. The conservatards have been making a lot of fun of this.
Evidently being forced by our system to wear another person's dentures is hilarious and just another indication of how unnecessary health care reform is.

These people are truly sociopaths.

4. my co-worker, a non-wingnut republican (she voted for obama),
was under the impression that the republicans want to crush obama's health care plan, get back into office and do their own health care reform. i straightened her out on that fallacy.

8. Actually, she's absolutely right . . .

Only their health care "reform" will have no regulations on hospitals or insurance, gut Medicare, include a no-tax medical "savings" accounts for the wealthy, take away all patients rights, punish sick people . . . well, you get the picture. And it will have a Bush-like name like "The Healthy Americans Act." It will destroy what's left of the New Deal/G.I. Bill-created middle class. With the Citizens' United ruling, the corporations will put even more of their wholly owned subsidiaries in Congress and . . . voila!!! We become a third world oligarchy!!! Mission Accomplished.

6. --Rush Limbaugh, yesterday
"I mean, for example, what's wrong with using a dead person's teeth? Aren't the Democrats big into recycling, save the planet? And so what? So what if you don't have any teeth, so what? What's applesauce for? Isn't that why they make applesauce?"

--Rush Limbaugh, yesterday

crude, unfeeling, knuckle dragging, self centered, insensitive, cock biting, propagandist asshole!...

9. Does HCR even cover dentures?
Does the House or Senate Healthcare reform cover dentures?

I didn't realize comprehensive dental coverage would be included in this.

12. Repubs want you to pay penalties for wearing someone else's teeth.
they want to penalize you if you don't want to buy 'insurance care'
