The gang is all here
Today, the 2010 election cycle started for me. I went to John Callahan's office in Bethlehem as a personal favor to a friend to make phone calls for his first major event, to unseat Charlie Dent in the 15th district.

Celeste, my closest friend in politics, and one of the few people I do things for with out asking questions asked me to be there. She was my successor as an officer in the local party, after me and another officer had a falling out and I felt one of us had to go, and it would be easiest if I fell on my sword, and picked it up after the 2009 local races, than to have that fight than.

We were there, the head of the five families as I liked to affectionately nickname us after the primary, the team leaders that took on the impossible task of battling the PA democratic machine in 2008 during the tough primary nomination fight. We lost that battle, we won that war nationally. The team leaders that put together the organization that carried the Lehigh Valley to a 60-40 win for a democratic candidate.

It was nice to see the old gang, and needless to say, I'm as outspoken in real life as I am on these boards, and they were all a little cautious. One joke about subjecting Goldman Sachs executives to Bush era terror laws put them at ease.

We know each other, we have fought in the trenches together, we have endured DNC stooges after the primary together leading to the general, we have endured the tea baggers before they were the tea baggers, we have endured the people who did not like the results of the primary, and we have endured our own. We disagree on a few things. However, at the end of the day, the common thread amongst the "five families" is we wanted change in 2008, and all of us still want it in 2010.

My opinions and anger, have been about wasted opportunities. However, I will do my part, I will fulfill my role. My leaders in Washington, may have not done the best that they were given with, but that has nothing to do with the 15th district and John.

I know John Callahan. I know he is a good and decent hardworking man. I know he will be a better voice for me, than Charlie Dent. I also know Dan Onorato and Patrick Slattery.

So, for the subset of DU that hates my ramblings or as one poster called it my painful, pedantic, pompous pontifications.

I say simply this. Outdo me in fighting in 2010. Which I do, despite what I consider were the lost opportunities, our leaders gave us in 2009.

It is February, and I'm fighting for November, what are you doing?

"Let us realize that a change can only come, when we stand together as ONE."

I had a revelation at the 2:52 mark.

6. There are two political parties in this country
There is going to be a lot of fighting in the off season. Particularly when the party hasn't had the ability to do anything since 1994 and has been in the opposition and critical realm since than.

Bill Clinton takes tons of heat from people, he only had 2 years of having help in congress.

4. Wow! Whoever said that is a MASTER of alliteration!
painful, pedantic, pompous pontifications

Good sh*t! I tip my hat to that person. :)

And um, Jake. Some of us are in the process of doing "other things." So you do your part (whatever you have determined that to be), do it to the best of your abilities, and let the rest of us worry about ourselves, okay??

8. Absolutely. And some of us "pull wagons"
while others steer "high speed rails." :)

9. Well one thing is for sure

No election has ever been determined by what is said or not said on here.

2009 was not the best year for us politically. Anytime your party is in charge and it spends 9 months debating itself on an issue while your opponents sit on the sidelines and snipe, is going to result in a downturn in your popularity.

The start of the downturn for the GOP was in 2005 when they argued over Social Security Privatization, with themselves.

That is the biggest obstacle to overcome in November.

11. Good for you. I don't know the players in Pa.
But, Florida is so fucked up, that I've given up on most electoral politics here. I am however, working on some other projects. Our class action lawsuit against Progress Energy was just filed a couple of days ago.

and our legislature's response.
