1. Solid approval number. Not above 50%, but disapproval is very low.

3. Plus 10--bottom line is as the economy recovers so will Obama's ratings and overall Dem ratings, too

4. Pretty much.
You either sink or swim with the economy as president. Clinton was given a good deal of leeway as president because the economy began booming under his watch. Even Bush Senior was riding high in approval ratings until the economy tanked. Then he could do no good. Same with Reagan - just in reverse. He started out fairly high and dropped like a rock once unemployment cracked 10% (sounds familiar). That was actually a year before the election. Obama has two years before the '12 campaign kicks off to get things leveled. Once the unemployment rate dipped in late-'83 and early-'84, Reagan's numbers climbed and he surged to a landslide win.

I see something similar for Obama.
