1. I don't even understand why someone would vote no on inceasing the debt limit.
Edited on Thu Feb-04-10 08:06 PM by Make7
Do they really think not increasing the debt limit will lead to a better outcome than increasing it?

I realize that it is probably just so they can look like they are attempting to be fiscally responsible, but it is something I would hope constituents would ask them to explain during their reelection campaigns.

It's roughly analogous to a homeowner not taking a $100 cash advance on their credit card to pay what they can't quite cover of their mortgage because they don't want to go further into debt. I guess losing the house and having a lower credit score are worth not going $100 further into debt.

2. So Republicans voted down pay as we go...
In other words, they voted to go deeper into debt.

Then they voted down the debt increase.

That makes perfect sense

Sounds like it's time to call my GOP critter and demand an explanation as to why he's supporting big government. :)

9. The problem is that many vulnerable Democrats, like Alan Grayson, opposed raising the debt ceiling

6. If they aren't doing nothing
could we as American Citizens vote to kick them out of office for not doing the job they were elected to do. Boy wouldn't that save a lot of money. But oh no, it would add to unemployment.

7. Think about it. Why would anybody vote for somebody
who openly "doesn't believe in government"? Why would you put somebody in charge of government who says it doesn't work?

Republicans are mentally ill.

10. GOP can't support Paygo?
Boy the campaign ads for this fall will be easy. GOPers sitting down for tax cuts and job growth at the SOTU and now they're against sensible spending practices.

11. It is easy being a Rethug, No governing involved. Just vote no on everything.
Don't even look at the bill. I have to admit we should have done this during Bush's time but too many conservadems.

13. I'm convinced...
...that they don't even bother to read the bills anymore. Reminds me of the Republican response to SOTU... it made no sense & had nothing to do with the speech.

I'm embarrassed for them, even if they aren't embarrassed for themselves.

What a joke!

15. Any Democrats thinkiing about sitting out this election is just not thinking.
We can get more seats in both houses if we get out the vote - even the moderate republicans are disgusted with their politicians.
