Seriously, bring to the floor and vote. Vote against, fine. Yeah you're scum, but it will pass.

But to filibuster a core party platform policy that is decades in the making.

That is just unacceptable.

I realize that there is more happening behind the scenes than we will ever know, but the severity of this can't be over stated. This is insane.

Merely stating that you will do that is insane.

It's appalling tha the GOP is what it is, but this is just amazing.

2. I'm just saying that the continued filibuster threats by Dems is unacceptable
and there should be no civility towards it from other Senators.

3. Welcome to the democratic party

shooting itself in the foot since 1972.

BTW isn't it crazy how these same men and women have trouble filibustering things like tax cuts and war resolutions.

4. The Democratic party has always been fragmented
At least we don't have members trying to filibuster civil rights anymore. Really, the difficulty is with three or so Democrats out of 59, plus Lieberman. That's not too bad. The Republicans don't have much control over Snowe and Collins, either.

The real problem is the filibuster itself. It is undemocratic and it should be junked.

6. We Don't?
I feel pretty certain we would run into a filibuster if we tried to bring any civil rights issues to the floor. Whether they be Health Care, GLBT, Torture/imprisonment, etc.

5. I'm confused too. Not by your post but by the senators' declarations
(publicly) against letting a democratic policy proceed, if I'm understanding this correctly.

Call me naive, but I see a significant ethical (for starters) conflict of interest - that we all just seem to accept as SOP. Self-interest and a quid pro quo (to that end) is part of (if not the sole) driving force here. It seems too many votes are bought by huge, wealthy entities more often than not, leaving regular citizens in the dust.

If these Senators put the greater good - the regular citizens of this country - *first*, there is no way that HCR would be so complicated, arduous or time consuming.

7. I have a question; maybe someone can answer it for me.
Would the number of the votes be the same, if we/slash the Democratic leadership in the Senate said screw it and tore up the whole damn bill and rewrote it on couple of pages and turned it into Medicare for all that want it?

Make that two questions. Would the number of votes be changed? My read on it would be if the votes are around the same number lets go for it, what’s to lose?

10. That's cute. You're imagining that they give a damn what we want
If they were representing us, your questions would be very pertinent. Sadly, they represent the insurance companies so Medicare For All is Off The Table. Sorry.

9. I'm watching a miniseries about John Adams and the Continental Congress
It's making me feel a little better about our current Congress. They are following in a proud tradition of lead-bottomed jackassery. Same as it ever was...............
