Why is this POS still chairing the committee for Homeland Security?

Lieberman: It's 'Possible' I Could Run As 'A Good Old-Fashioned New England Moderate Republican'

Jillian Rayfield | January 25, 2010, 6:08PM

Over the weekend, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) said it's "possible" he could run for Senate as "a good old-fashioned New England moderate Republican."

As ThinkProgress pointed out, Lieberman gave an interview to Connecticut's "Face The State," and acknowledged the possibility that he will run for Senate re-election as a Republican.

Lieberman was first asked if there he could possibly return to being a "full-fledged Democrat," or if that is a "bridge burned."

He responded: "No, I don't think it's burned," but that "I haven't really focused on it, but I'd say from the get go, any one of these...it's good, to paraphrase Mel Brooks, it's good to be an independent. It gives me latitude."

When asked if he would run as a Republican, Lieberman immediately said that "it's possible. A good old-fashioned New England moderate Republican."

3. Why the hell can't he be up for re-election again like RIGHT friggin' now?
I don't think he can survive slithering into another term. His poll numbers in CT are in the tank. This guy is gonna have to know the writing is on the wall. If DUers can't agree or anything else, I think doing Joe Lieberman in (politically of course), is the one thing we could probably all still rally around.

15. Not sure if he will even run in 2012.
If he does, you bet I am voting against him. I voted for him in 2000. Since then, he's been nothing but a waste.

20. I voted for him in 2000. I was a dumb 24 year old and Lieberman pretended he was a Dem.

I actually voted for him twice...in the Senate and the ticket with Gore.

11. I'll give him half credit for being honest (finally)
But with that statement, he should be stripped of all committee assignments. Let the Republican Caucus have him.

12. No, It's Not Possible at All, Joe
A good-for-nothing Republican is certainly within your range, not much of a stretch from your starring as a good-for-nothing Democrat, and the sequel, a good-for-nothing quasi-Independent.

16. On behalf of Connecticut residents who did not vote for that weasel in 2006,
I say to Joe...F*Ck off. Hard.

What coalition will he use to win this time? Last time it was Rethugs, Indies and some Dems. in 2012 he is going down. He has lost support among indies and Dems. Only Rethugs will vote for your sorry ass in this state anymore, Joe.
